Conference held by Minister of Information, Mohammed al-Sahhaf

"Today, at approximately 4:30 AM in the city of an-Nassiriyah, in the Iraqi governorate, General Ali Abdul Rahman al-Majid, commander of the 2nd Mechanized Corps of the Iraqi Army, came under attack by fundamentalist forces led by the illegal and terrorist organization 'Islamic Dawa Party'."

"The enemy attacked General al-Majid's convoy as they drove back to his headquarters as he returned from a meeting in Baghdad. The four car convoy came under attack by RPG and small arm fire. Two RPGs knocked out the first and last car in the convoy. Small arm fire riddled the second car, killing the four soldiers inside."

"The fundamentalist terrorists then moved toward the third. After a firefight, which wounded the General as he defiantly fought back with his pistol, he was captured. The rebels then dragged him from his car and up the street, executing him in the middle of al-Jumhuriyah square."

"Security forces quickly responded and killed all but one of these terrorists. He has admitted to his crimes on video, which will be shown later in the day. General al-Majid and his brave defenders will be laid to rest in the Wadi as-Salam cemetery in an-Najaf. General al-Majid, a devout Shi'ite Muslim, was a true patriot, who fought for his country over the last thirteen years. Al Anbar mourns his loss."

"We will find and destroy these terrorists wherever they are. We ask all nations to cooperate with the government of Al Anbar and provide all information about this 'Islamic Dawa Party' and their supporters and affilitiates. Thank you."

We are highly worried that a neighboring nation is growing unstable with Islamic terrorists lurking within their borders. Parthia will set up extra security to prevent terrorists from crossing into Parthian territories.

OOC: Why? Fundamentalist Shi'ites that don't like Al Anbar's secular socialist government led by Saddam. What's wrong with that? In real life, the Islamic Dawa Party, supported by Iran, attacked and killed Iraqi government people from 1979 throughout the 1980's.

We asure the government of Parthia that we are no where near "unstable" and such incidents are very rare.

OOC: Uh, right. Whatever.

IC:

Al Anbar's military took no time to wait to respond. Within hours, soldiers from Al Anbar's elite Republican Guard and Special Forces swooped into the cities, arresting people that they thought may be associated with the Islamic Dawa Party or any other opposition group. Shi'ite religious leaders, which were considered not fully for Al Anbar were arrested and taken away.

Martial law was declared and a curfew was put in place. The borders with Iran and even other sub-governorates that bordered along the mainly Shi'ite areas were closed.

Does Al Anbar require military assistance? We have troops nearby in Susa and Lower Egypt if you do.

While we are surprised by this move, we are not able to accept such support. Your nation and government has condoned the destruction of the holy sites in Mecca and Medina. You have repeatedly attacked Al Anbar at every opportunity. We will take any assistance from your nation. We thank you for the offer, though! (OOC: :) )

"Today, at approximately 2:40 AM in the city of an-Nassiriyah, Republican Guard troops, acting on information from the great citizens of an-Nassiriyah, arrested forty nine members of the Islamic Dawa Party. This ends the last vestiges of the Islamic Dawa Party's presence in the city."

The Arab Socialist Republic of Al Anbar is capable of handling its own operations against these criminals. We ask, however, that all nations relay any intelligence they may have about these criminals and arrest supporters of the Islamic Dawa terrorist organization.
