Fighters
The SZ-1 'Vulture' Strike Aircraft (http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/jsf/images/img3.jpg)

The SZ-1 Vulture was designed by Windham and Green Defense Industries as a multi-role fighter designed to compete with some of the best air-superiority fighters in the world today. The fighter is optimized for anti-ship and anti-surface warfare but also has some air-to-air capability. Its avionics are roughly comparable to the F-35 JSF. The Vulture combines the strengthened internal structure and the longer wing and tail control surfaces of the naval version with the short takeoff/vertical landing capabilities of the USAF model.

The Vulture is designed as a STOVL jet, which allows it to get airborne from either McVie or Nelson-class light carriers or from battlefields where there are no viable airstrips. The ship also carries a 24 mm gun mounted internally to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. It is primarily designed to operate from aircraft carriers and is optimized for the Forrest-class aircraft carrier constructed by the Portland Iron Works (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345001).

The Vulture's radar system is similar to the advanced electronically scanned array found in the F-35 but is integrated with the global positioning system (GPS) uplink provided by either the aircraft carrier or the Freedom-class superdreadnaught. Countermeasures are provided by Windham and Green's electronics division and is based on the electronics warfare systems found in the Freedom-class superdreadnaughts. The targeting system also incorporates GPS and a dual mode laser tracker and laser marker.

The Vulture (SZ-1):
Length: 15.6 m; Height: 4.75 m; Wingspan: 12.8 m
Propulsion: Turbofan engine, thrust 23,500 pounds
Maximum takeoff weight: 28,110 kg
Maximum speed: Mach 1.85
Armament: 2 x AIM 120 AMRAAM-equivalent air-to-air missiles; 2 x 1000 lb air-to-surface munition bombs or 8 x GWS.47 Robin small diameter bombs (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/images/smalbomb.jpg); 1 x 24 mm gun mounted internally.
Payload: 7,938 kg (17,500 lbs)

The SZ-2 'Albatross' air-to-air combat fighter
Top view (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v419/msarzo/d0357b0e.bmp); Bottom view (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v419/msarzo/93e379d6.bmp); Rear view (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v419/msarzo/846cbfa3.bmp) [OOC: Thanks Granzi for the pictures!]

The SZ-2 Albatross is designed as a close-in fighter that is optimized for air-to-air combat. It also includes surface strike capabilities, including anti-ship and anti-ground warfare. It is a highly agile aircraft and its efficient engine allows it to travel at above Mach-1 speeds without using its afterburner.

The avionics are similar to those of the Eurofighter Typhoon in service in several air forces. The Albatross comes in two varieties. One is a carrier-based variant that includes sturdier construction for the landings required on your aircraft carrier. A digital fly-by-wire system controlled by the pilot provides artificial stability control since the foreplane/delta configuration is intentionally designed to be aerodynamically unstable to enhance agility.

The Albatross carries a 24 mm gun similar to that employed by the Vulture. It includes 12 hard points for weapons carriage, with four under each wing and four under the fuselage. An advanced weapons control system manages weapon selection and instantly updates the pilot on weapons status. The Albatross comes with a countermeasures system that has been made compatible with the Vulture's, and includes front and rear missile warners, supersonic-capable decoy systems and laser warning receivers.

The Albatross (SZ-2):
Length: 15.9 m; Height: 5.32 m; Wingspan: 11.1 m
Propulsion: Turbofan engine, thrust 41,000 pounds
Maximum takeoff weight: 22,550 kg
Maximum speed: Mach 2.1
Armament: Depends on role. Capable of carrying 6 BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Anti-Aircraft Missiles)/AMRAAMs, and two ASRAAM short range anti-aircraft missiles, four AMRAAM and ASRAAM missiles, two cruise missiles and two anti-radar missiles; 1 x 24 mm gun mounted internally.
Payload: 7,250 kg (15,983 lbs)
Combat radius: 750 nm
Price: $35 million

The SZ-3 'Skyshark' Fighter-Bomber (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/images/fb-22-line.gif)

The SZ-3 Skyshark was designed by Windham and Green Industries as a fighter-bomber aircraft designed to handle some of the missions usually reserved for B-1 and B-2 bombers. Its avionics are similar to the prototypes for the FB-22 Fighter Bomber currently in the planning stages in the United States Air Force. Even though this aircraft is not intended to serve on aircraft carriers, specially equipped carriers can readily carry it.

The Skyshark is a CTOVL jet, which requires that it take off from viable runways or from either a Forrest-class or Nanticoke-class aircraft carrier. The Skyshark carries the same 24 mm gun internally mounted in an effort to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. Each Skyshark is given a full coat of radar inhibiting paints to decrease detection. It is also built with a layer of kevlar to increase survivability.

The Skyshark's radar system is the same as the one employed by the Vulture and the same weapons control system as on the Albatross. Windham and Green provides the countermeasures system that is based on the electronics warfare systems found in the Freedom-class superdreadnaughts in the Sarzonian Navy. The targeting system incorporates GPS and a dual mode laser tracker and marker for easier target acquisition.

The Skyshark (SZ-3):
Length: 18.7 m; Height: 5.75 m; Wingspan: 17.9 m
Crew: 2 pilots for missions upwards of 12 hours.
Propulsion: Turbofan engine, thrust 31,500 pounds
Maximum takeoff weight: 36,070 kg
Maximum speed: Mach .9-1.05 (above Mach speeds only in short bursts)
Armament: 2 x AIM 120 AMRAAM-equivalent air-to-air missiles; 24 x 1000 lb air-to-surface munition bombs or 30 x GWS.47 Robin small diameter bombs (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/images/smalbomb.jpg); 1 x 24 mm gun mounted internally.
Payload: 14,288.4 kg (31,500 lbs)
Combat radius: 1600 nm
Price: $55 million

The SZ-8 'Leapfrog' VSTOL/Close-In Support Fighter (http://www.paxmuseum.com/photos/av8b/dcr0005a.JPG)

The SZ-8 'Leapfrog' fulfills the Sarzonian Navy's requirements for a vertical takeoff/landing fighter for use on its McVie-class and Swiftsure-class light aircraft carriers. The design is based on the principles behind the AV-8B Harrier II Plus VSTOL fighter and the A-10 Thunderbolt close in combat support fighters.

The SZ-8's cockpit contains an integrated system for day- and night operations highlighted by a Windham and Green digital radar that also allows operation in adverse weather conditions and includes an inertial navigation system, digital moving map, hands on throttle and stick system, and head-up and head-down displays. A multi-mode radar and beyond visual range missile capability adds to the design's strengths as a combat jet. Survivability is a prime motivator for this design, so the cockpit is titanium armor-plated. Other features include a redundant flight control system separated by fuel tanks, manual reversion mode for flight controls, ballistic foam void fillers, and a redundant primary structure permitting "get home" capability after being hit.

Leapfrogs are built for maneuverability at low altitudes and air speeds and include a highly accurate weapons delivery platform. They can operate under a 1,000 foot ceiling with 1.75 mile visibility. The class can deploy AMRAAM and Sparrow air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface AGM-65-equivalent missiles, anti-ship Harpoon or equivalent missiles, a 24 mm cannon mounted internally, and several bombs and rockets.

The engine provides a very high thrust-to-weight ratio and retains performance in hot and high-altitude conditions.

The Leapfrog (SZ-8):
Length: 13.3 m; Height: 3.9 m; Wingspan: 13.1 m
Propulsion: One Windham and Green engine, thrust 12,900 pounds
Maximum takeoff weight: 18,040 kg
Maximum speed: Mach 1.15
Armament: Can launch AMRAAMs, Harpoon Equivalent, Sea Eagle equivalents, or Sparrow equivalents; 8 x GWS.47 Robin small diameter bombs (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/images/smalbomb.jpg); 1 x 24 mm gun mounted internally.
Payload: 12,938 kg
Combat radius: 850 nm
Price: $55 million

SZ-9 'Condor' (Formerly Asgardian V-54 Jump Condor)

The SZ-9 'Condor', provided to the Avalon Aerospace Corporation by Asgardia, is a vertical take-off fighter designed for naval strike and air superiority operations. It couples high spped with reasonably long range to provide a platform that can be deadly to opposing fighters and ground or naval targets alike.

The aircraft's size also allows it to carry a payload that could allow it to be classified as a fighter-bomber or perform those roles in an emergency. With the VTOL design, it can allow you to pack a bomber's punch using anything from a light aircraft carrier to a dirt field to launch your attacks.

Type: VTOL Strike/Air Superiority Fighter
Length: 13.6 m; Height: 4.05 m; Wingspan: 11.6 m

Price: $55 million

SZ-10 'Sea Hound' (formerly Asgardian F-92 Sea Hound)

The 'Sea Hound' is the second design provided to Avalon by Asgardia. Similar to the 'Condor', it can perform either strike or air superiority roles, but it is best as a carrier defense fighter and interceptor. As a carrier-based variant of the land-based Lightning Hound fighter produced by Asgardia, it benefits from the stronger superstructure needed to withstand the stresses of takeoffs and landings from carrier aircraft.

The 'Sea Hound' carries a variety of weaponry that depends on the role it is being used for. Its ability to operate at a high altitude allows it increased flexibility and some protection against lower-flying enemy aircraft. Its 10 external pylons allow this to be an extremely flexible aircraft.

Type: Carrier Defense fighter, interceptor, with strike capabilities
Powerplant: 2 SNECMA M152-2A turbofans supplying 27,000 lbs of thrust.

Price: $50 million

SZ-11 'Twin Tail' (Formerly Asgardian F/A-47 Twin Tail)

The 'Twin Tail' is the third design provided by Asgardia and it is designed specifically as a pure fighter aircraft. As such, it is your air force's best bet to engage enemy fighters or defend your military installations against bomber raids. Its fast speed (a possible Mach 3) makes it one of the fastest aircraft Avalon Aerospace has to offer.

Additionally, the twin tail design improves maneuverability, making this one of the hardest aircraft to hit. Add in the 3.7 inches of armour of each 'Twin Tail' and you potentially have one of the hardest modern-day aircraft to bring down.

Price: $45 million

The SZ-12 'Skysnake' Fighter-Bomber

The SZ-12 Skysnake is a modified version of the SZ-3 ‘Skyshark’ fighter-bomber with a greater emphasis placed on speed and maneuverability. For it to be truly effective at both fighter and bomber roles, engineers at Windham and Green Industries had to sacrifice the Skyshark’s ability to take off from all but the smallest aircraft carriers. The Skysnake's combat radius is also not as extensive, but it makes up for it in speed and its ability to be deployed as a defensive fighter to fend off an aerial attack by your enemies.

The Skysnake is a CTOVL jet, which requires that it take off from viable runways. The Skysnake carries the same internally mounted 24 mm machine gun as other Avalon Aerospace-designed aircraft in an effort to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. Each Skysnake is given a full coat of radar-inhibiting paints to decrease detection. It is also built with a layer of kevlar to increase survivability.

The Skysnake's radar system is the same as the one employed by the Vulture and the same weapons control system as on the Albatross. Windham and Green provides the countermeasures system that is based on the electronics warfare systems found in the Freedom-class superdreadnaughts in the Sarzonian Navy. The targeting system incorporates GPS and a dual mode laser tracker and marker for easier target identification and acquisition.

The Skysnake (SZ-12):
Length: 20.3 m; Height: 6.05 m; Wingspan: 18.2 m
Crew: 2 pilots for missions upwards of 12 hours.

KR-02 "Ragnarok" Fighter-bomber (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v419/msarzo/image002.jpg)
Description: Heavily based on the old, nearly obsolete fighter-bomber the F-111 Aardvark. The chassis is almost identical, but slightly smaller and with the powerful new modified S.C.R.A.M. jet mounted in the belly, towards the back of the plane. This allows the plane to rocket past the competition, but also requires stronger alloys and higher maintenance costs. On top of that, the noise from third engine eliminates almost all vestiges of stealth.

The Ragnarok was conceived and designed by engineers from the Dominion of Kargucagstan and is currently the only aircraft not to receive an Avalon classification number. The aircraft is made of a new metal called admantium, which is a combination of admanite found in Kargucagstan with aluminum to create a strong, but highly flexible metal that can handle the stresses of using the modified S.C.R.A.M. jet.
Armament: Up to four nuclear bombs on four wing pylons, and two in internal weapons bay. Wing pylons carry total external load of 25,000 pounds (11,250 kilograms) of bombs, rockets, missiles, or fuel tanks
Height: 17 feet, 1 1/2 inches
Crew: One
Power plant: Two Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-100 turbofans rated at 25,100 lb (11,250 kilograms) each. S.C.R.A.M. jet mounted on belly.
Maximum speed: Mach 4.2 fully loaded and using the S.C.R.A.M. jet.
Maximum ceiling: 60,000 ft
Length: 73 feet, 6 inches
Wingspan: 42 feet full forward. 21 feet full aft
Dry weight: 38,482 pounds
Range: 3,565 miles (3,100 nautical miles) with external fuel tanks and without use of S.C.R.A.M. jet.
Price: Approximately $100 million counting the S.C.R.A.M. jet.

SZ-19 Predator Interceptor (http://www.usiap.org/Viewpoints/Zhold/IntelligenceReports/PLANJ10.jpg)
Overall Length: 62 feet 9 inches (18.9 meters)
Wingspan: 49 feet
Height: 16 feet (4.8 meters)
Weight: 43,600 lb (19,777 kg)
Speed: Mach 3.2 (2.2 supercruise)
Ceiling: 88,000 feet
Range: 1600 nm
Power Plants:
2 Avalon Aerospace Corporation T-9000 Pulse Detonation/Turbofan Hybrid engine (65,000 pounds of thrust per engine)
Sensors: APG-90 Advanced Long Range Milimetric Wave Radar (air-to-air), APG-120 Advanced LIDAR/LADAR Receiver, IRTS-1 Infrared Scanning System
Armament: Up to 13,000 pounds of long range air-to-air munitions stored in four separate weapons bays. Two primary bays (located in the fuselage) are capable of housing four long or medium range air-to-air missiles each, or eight short range AAMs each. Two smaller, secondary bays, located further up in the fuselage directly next to one another can house one short range AAM each. 1 M61A1 Vulcan 20mm Cannon, built deep into the fuselage to further increase stealth capabilities. When not firing, a small hatch covers the very end of the tube the weapon is located within to prevent radar detection.
Crew: Two (pilot and radar intercept officer)
Design: The Predator is the result of hard learned lessons from the Inakanan Civil War, in which entire squadrons of ISAF aircraft were laid waste to by a single Doomingsland Imperial Air Force squadron operating the new F-78C Air Superiority Fighter. The aircraft maintains a delta wing configuration for increased speed and stability along with forward canard wings for increased maneuverability. It is designed with stealth in mind. For the Predator to be stealthy, the creators had to cut down on the RCS, meaning that everything on the plane, internal and external, had to have no echo, or as little as possible. To accomplish this, they made many parts of the plane with special alloys (metal mixtures) that had little or no echo when hit by radar. The shape of the Predator is made to have an over-all "triangular" shape, making the over-all shape reflect radio waves in such a manner, that they do not go back to the radar of the enemy. Radar absorbent material is also used rampantly throughout the design to further make for a stealthier machine. Finally, it was also painted in a medium-gray paint scheme, which serves to fool the naked eye into not noticing the aircraft.
Avionics: Avionics include the FBW-1029B Advanced Fly By Wire System to allow for excellent control capabilities and an AHDS-1 Helmet Mounted HUD System, which allows for the pilots of the aircraft to simply look at the target to achieve a lock. This is especially useful during a dogfight. The aircraft’s superb sensor systems allow for up to 120 enemy aircraft to be tracked at any given time via a SCS-1 Mobile Super Computer System, which gives the aircraft nearly unmatched processing power, and for eight of them to be targeted and engage simultaneously at ranges exceeding eighty miles. When used in conjunction with an AWACS aircraft, the Predator becomes even more lethal. This allows for the aircraft to effectively engage and destroy hostile aircraft at ranges limited only by the missiles carried in her bays, and can do this without switching on the radar, as to prevent radar seeking equipment from picking up on radar emissions generated from the aircraft.
Price: $100 million.

Bombers

The SZ-4 'Warbird' Long-Range Strategic Bomber (http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/tu160/images/tu160_12.jpg)

The SZ-4 Warbird was designed by Windham and Green Industries as a bomber aircraft designed to serve as a platform for conventional raids and extensive bombing missions. Its avionics are similar to the TU-160 Blackjack strategic bomber in service in the Russian Air Force. Unlike the previous three aircraft offered by the Avalon Aerospace Corporation, this aircraft is not available for use on an aircraft carrier.

The Warbird is a CTOVL jet, which requires that it take off from a viable runway. The Warbird carries the same 24 mm gun internally mounted in an effort to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. Each Warbird is given a full coat of radar inhibiting paints to decrease detection. It is also built with a layer of kevlar to increase survivability.

The Warbird's radar system is the same as the one employed by the Vulture and the same weapons control system as on the Albatross. Windham and Green provides the countermeasures system that is based on the electronics warfare systems found in the Freedom-class superdreadnaughts in the Sarzonian Navy. The targeting system incorporates GPS and a dual mode laser tracker and marker for easier target acquisition.

Background With the poor performance of the Incorporated Sarzonian Army and the air wing of the Incorporated Sarzonian Naval Infantry in the Inkanan Civil War resonating in their minds, engineers at Windham & Green Defence Industries and the Avalon Aerospace Corporation set to work on adopting a new helicopter gunship to serve as the primary attack helicopter employed by the Incorporated Sarzonian Army. Using the successful Russian-built Mi-28 Havoc and American Apache helicopters as a base, the result of this development is the SZ-18 'Hurricane.'

Since Russian-derived systems have provided the basis for several Sarzonian weapons, the Avalon Aerospace Corporation chose the Havoc as the primary inspiration for the Hurricane, but also liked the survivability of the Apache and chose to adopt elements of that survivability into the design to create a truly dangerous attack helicopter.

Armament The 30 mm cannon found on the Mi-28 Havoc was given a face lift by the Incorporated Ordnance Company, which worked with Avalon and Windham & Green. Instead of the 30 mm cannon, a fast-firing 40 mm cannon was adopted to provide a much stronger punch against ground-based targets. Depending on role, the Hurricane can be armed with anti-tank missiles similar to the AT-6 Spiral or the SA-16 Gimlet. It can also carry a combination of weapons to serve as self-defence or as a multi-role attack helicopter. Deadly 80 mm unguided rockets also provide devastation.

Sensors/Electronics/Countermeasures Like the Mi-28N before it, the Hurricane comes with an integrated electronic combat system and night vision technology. It also makes good use of an AEGIS-similar system and GPS to allow it to track multiple targets and assign priority to targets based on several factors. The Hurricane also comes with flares and chaff to serve as a decoy mechanism to ward off attacks. The Hurricane comes with a millimetre-wave radar similar to Longbow that incorporates an integrated radar frequency interferometer for passive location and identification of radar emitting threats.

Survivability Some of the survivability features of the Apache were incorporated into the design of the Hurricane, while others were improved upon. One such improvement came when W&G adopted spectra fibre for use around key systems in lieu of the kevlar fibre which had been Sarzonian practice. Standard steel has been replaced with amorphous steel when possible to create an even stronger structure, while the frame has been hardened with titanium to provide greater protection against 12.7 mm rounds.

The SZ-5 'Snarl' is an aircraft designed to serve as an air force's primary electronics warfare plane. The SZ-5 is fitted with a tactical jamming system similar to one that has been in service for a number of years on the USAF's EA-6B Prowler and is extremely comprehensive. The jammer runs over a wide range of bands, from Band 1 (VHF) to Band 10 (KU). It also contains a sophisiticated system that automatically analyzes the frequency used by enemy targets and jams signals based on information processed. Six pods, including two under each wing and under the fuselage, use two powerful continuous wave transmitters that direct the jamming signal at the threat.

The SZ-5 also comes with the capability to counter frequency-hopping intercept radars with a selective reactive jamming capability. It also includes an extensive datalink capable of coordinating with a Freedom-class pocket dreadnaught and an integrated communications jamming system.

The SZ-5 is armed with an anti-radiation missile system used against land-based and seaborne radar-directed air defence artillery systems and surface-to-air missile systems. It also comes with a 27 mm gun mounted internally for additional self-defense purposes. It is very flexible, allowing for operation from an aircraft carrier or from a land-based field.

SZ-6 'Pegasus' Search and Rescue Helicopter (http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/cougar/images/cougar1.jpg)

The SZ-6 'Pegasus' fills a role that has been somewhat lacking in the Sarzonian air force, namely, that of a craft especially dedicated to search and rescue operations. This role had been filled by converted combat helicopters until Windham and Green Industries saw an opportunity to design a craft to handle the task.

Designed with survivability in mind, the Pegasus has high impact tolerance, crashworthiness, and maintains redundant vital systems and components. The helicopter is designed to protect its occupants at impact velocities of up to 12.9 m/sec. Fuel cells are designed with a fuel crossfeed system that facilitates continuity of supply in the event of a fuel circuit failure and are self-sealing to provide additional protection.

Both main and tail rotors are equipped with high-impact tolerance Spheriflex hubs, which have unlubricated metal antifriction bearings. They are designed to be tolerant to 35 mm cannon and 20 mm machine gun fire. Gearboxes are designed to operate for up to 2 hours without lubrication. The body of the craft is coated with kevlar to enhance survivability even further. The Pegasus carries a 295 kg capacity rescue hoist and an external sling for rescue operations. The sponsons add stowage for life rafts, extra fuel, floats or other equipment. Emergency floatation gear comes standard for over-water missions.

An advanced Personnel Locator System based on an encrypted communications homing system is used to locate survivors. The device communicates with a Thales Avionique Nadir Mark 2-compatible navigation computer, which interfaces to the positional and navigation equipment on the helicopter, the global positioning system, the inertial navigation, Doppler radar, the VHF omnidirectional radio range equipment (VOR), Tacan tactical air navigation (TACAN), and distance measuring equipment (DME). Observation domes attached to cabin doors, a search light, forward-looking infared sensor, and panoramic view detection radar with homing and Personnel Location System functions also add to the search and rescue features.

The aircraft is equipped with two outboard 20mm cannons, pod-mounted rockets and two 12.7mm machine guns and is fitted with a radar warner and a missile launch warning system. The helicopter also has radar and infrared jammers and a chaff and flare decoy system.

SZ-7 'Air Scout' Maritime Reconnaissance Craft

Length: 108 feet
Wingspan: 110 feet
Height: 25 feet
Wing area: 2175 feet
Maximum take off weight: 188,000 lbs.
Weight empty: 88,000 lbs.
Maximum warload: Approximately 8,500 lbs.
Maximum speed: Mach 1.07
Service ceiling: 45,000 feet
Range (unfueled): 5,000 feet
Price: $40 million

This aircraft is designed for reconnaissance and search and rescue operations, so it has limited weapons outlay, but it can carry torpedoes and sonobuoys. Each wing has two hard points that allow it to carry a Harpoon missile or equivalent anti-ship missile or a Sidewinder or equivalent air-to-air missile. It’s designed for short-range self-defense against hostile aircraft. The Air Scout also comes with a 27 mm gun mounted internally. The ship is built with a kevlar coating to enhance survivability. The frame of the aircraft is reinforced to withstand some aircraft mounted gunfire.

The Air Scout is equipped with early warning receivers, multi-purpose search radars, and Tacan tactical air navigation (TACAN). It also comes equipped with a radar warner, a missile launch warning system, and a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) system. It also comes equipped with four chaff and flare decoys to divert missile launches. Navigation comes from a Navigation and Flight Management System from Windham and Green Defense Industries. It consists of a flight management computer and a navigation computer linked for easy coordination. Navigation sensors include a laser inertial navigation system and two Global Positioning Systems from which provide redundant position, velocity and attitude data to the flight management system. The aircraft also has radio navigation, a microwave landing system and a TCAS 2 Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System.

The aircraft comes with four engines, which, along with increased fuel capacity and redundant operations allow for a maximum speed of Mach 1.07.

SZ-17 'Galaxy' heavy cargo/transport plane

The continuing efforts of the Incorporated Sarzonian Army toward major reforms led Army Chief Antonius Santius to ask the Avalon Aerospace Corporation to design a heavy cargo and transport plane that combines heavy transport capability and paratroop carrying capability with an aircraft that puts a premium on survivability. Using the C-17A Globemaster transport and cargo plane as a base, Avalon designed the SZ-17 'Galaxy.'

The aircraft was designed with a thin layer of Spectra fibre, approximately ten times stronger than steel, to promote survivability against 12.7 mm shells and 24 mm fragments. With a cargo capacity of 79,920 kg, the Galaxy can carry four AH-64 helicopters or one Z-32 Zephyr MBT and 110 paratroopers. The Galaxy can also drop single loads of 28,130 kg or large pallets with a maximum of 56,260 kg in flight.

Sarzonian Military Storefront Policies

All potential buyers at any of Sarzonia's national military storefronts are subject to a background check, where we evaluate a country's fiscal, diplomatic, and military responsibility. Any countries with totalitarian, extreme right wing, fascist, nazi, or any anti-gay or anti gay marriage regimes shall be denied the right to purchase from any of Sarzonia's companies.

Each company reserves the right to set limitations or refuse orders based solely on its own discretion. As a general rule, the Incorporated Sarzonian Government does not involve itself in the day-to-day affairs of any of the companies. In the event the government chooses to impose trade restrictions on a potential customer, each storefront shall abide by government regulations.

Any discounts that apply with any of the storefronts apply with all of them, regardless of purchasing relationship with any of the companies. While the companies have separate boards of directors and executive structures, they are all integrated and can function almost as effectively as any one company.

OOC: I perform "background checks," by going to ThirdGeek to see if you have enough money to submit an order and then looking at your recent posts to get a sense of what kind of country you are. If you're a n00b or if you RP as a totalitarian, fascist, or other regime listed above, I'll deny the order.

Each company is a separate, independent entity, but they are well-integrated. It's sort of hard to explain, but they can access customer information from each other at the click of a mouse. In other words, if you're a first time buyer at the Portland Iron Works, but you're a regular at the Incorporated Ordnance Company, the PIW will give you the same discount you would get at the IOC. If I forget to give you this discount (which is entirely possible, as I'm only human), please notify me either ICly or OOCly and I'll remedy that. I am human, so I do forget, but I do remember people who frequent my storefronts.

The government does not get involved in the companies' day-to-day operations unless they commit gross violations of Sarzonian or international corporate law. Usually, the extent of the government's involvement is to announce that a country has been added to the Black List. However, PIW in particular often beats the government to the punch by banning a country from purchases before the government imposes sanctions.

Discount Policy

2.5% Discount
*Frequent buyers (countries that make three or more purchases)
*High volume purchases (20 or more)

5% Discount
*Atlantian Oceania region nations, Organisation of Maritime Powers, Union of World Powers or Woodstock Pact Nations

7.5% Discount
*Most favored and most trusted nations (Isselmere-Nieland, Praetonia, Samtonia, Euroslavia, Pacitalia)

Naval packages will not be subject to the same discounts listed above since packages already come with a discount.

Black List nations

The Portland Iron Works reserves the right to refuse sales to customers for any reason whatsoever. However, we will as a courtesy explain the reasons for any refusal of service. If I have an ignore on you, I will tell you OOCly that your order's denied.

Also, to prevent this thread from being locked or this post from being deleted due to flamebait, I will not include a list of the countries I have a hard ignore on. Those countries either have one on me themselves or most likely already know I ignore them.

The following countries are on the black list for the Avalon Aerospace Corporation. As a result, any orders from them will be automatically rejected.

OOC: RL Aircraft Equivalents

Continuing a policy I started at the Portland Iron Works, this section will be used to explain the RL inspirations behind each of these aircraft. Unless I did something significantly different to them, I will simply mention which aircraft they are most similar to in the RL world. In a couple of cases, I made some significant changes that will be highlighted.

SZ-1 'Vulture'
As mentioned above, this is based on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. I chose to base this design on the STOVL mode to allow it to take off from short or non-existent runways, but included some of the stats from the naval version to allow it to be used on aircraft carriers. I made mostly minor changes to the stats to improve things just slightly.

SZ-2 'Albatross'
This is based on the Eurofighter Typhoon that is highly popular in Europe. I am designing two varieties; one is a naval version with sturdier frame construction to allow it to handle the stresses of landing on aircraft carriers, while the other is optimized for army or air force use.

SZ-3 'Skyshark'
Based on the FB-22 fighter-bomber concept craft that is intended as a fighter-bomber variant of the F-22 Raptor.

SZ-4 'Warbird'
I based this on the Russian Tu-160 Blackjack Strategic Bomber with an idea toward giving it improved range and maneuverability on a par with the American B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft.

SZ-5 'Snarl'
The original inspiration for this was the EA-6B Prowler. The statistics came from the concepts behind the replacement for this bird. I believe it's the EB-111, but I can't quite recall right now.

SZ-6 'Pegasus
Based on the AS 532 U2/A2 Cougar search and rescue helicopter in use in European air forces. I added emergency medical facilities to this craft and increased the survivability of it by adding kevlar to enhance protection against hostile fire.

SZ-7 'Air Scout'
This is based roughly on the Nimrod MRA4 Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft. I reduced it in size somewhat and increased speed, which lessens some of its ability for combat but increases its scouting ability by making it faster and more technologically advanced than the Nimrod.

[OOC: Actually, the payload isn't that small when compared to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, which is what I based this on. There are three variants of the fighter and I basically took characteristics from the naval fighter and the STOVL version. The naval fighter has a payload of 17,000 lbs, the CTOVL version has a maximum payload of 13,000 pounds. That information is available at this website (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/jsf.htm).

[OOC: Thanks for the comments Granzi! I appreciate them very much. Thanks for being one of the stores I looked at as an example of how to do things. :)

Eventually, I plan to put Avalon, Saugerties Space Works, and the Portland Iron Works under one umbrella company. If I create an army storefront (which is a very big if), that will also go under the new company.

It'll be untraditional in how it's structured because it will basically be carved from the Portland Iron Works (Barbie Tucker will be the boss of the new company and Jamie Wilson will run Portland), but it will be a more logical explanation for how integrated the computer networks are (and how Avalon would know to give discounts to people who buy from Portland and vice versa) than the slightly confusing way I've done it IC.]

SZ-5 'Snarl' Electronics Warfare Aircraft (http://ipmslondon.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/g01lhs.jpg)

Wingspan: 11.45 m
Length: 18 m
Height: 5 m
Engines: Two Windham & Green 1800T turbofan engines with 79.2 kN thrust.
Weight: 10,785 kg empty; internal fuel 5,120 kg; external fuel 3,210 kg; Maximum payload 7,215 kg
Maximum takeoff weight: 26,025 kg
Speed: Maximum 1,315 km/hr at high altitude
Operating Altitude: 16,000 km
Range: 3,520 km ferry range; 1,110 km attack mission combat radius; 820 km air-to-air mission; CAP endurance from carrier 1 hr, 35 min.
Crew: 3
Price: $50 million
The newly-formed Seratoan Ministry of Defense wishes to place an order for 4 (four) SZ-5 "Snarl" Electronics Warfare Aircraft at a total price of $200million, with an option to purchase a further 6 (six) such aircraft if it meets with our requirements at an additional cost of $300million.

The Avalon Aerospace Corporation thanks you for contacting us for your aerial needs. MoD Awards Contract to Avalon for New Jet

The Avalon Aerospace Corporation has been awarded a $250 billion contract (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8039871&postcount=33) by the Democratic Imperium of Praetonia for production rights to the newest design offered by AAC, the SZ-12 'Skysnake' fighter-bomber aircraft.

"We are elated to have received this contract from the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Naval Flying Corps," Major General Stephen C. Wilcox (ISAF-Ret.), the managing director of the company, said. "This contract by one of the world's most respected nations and one of our closest allies is a major boon to the Avalon Aerospace Corporation and it benefits our allies in Praetonia as they are now able to construct their own aircraft."

Avalon's Board of Directors approved a measure allowing for full production rights to Praetonia "in perpetuity" by a vote of 4-0, with one member abstaining. Air Force Chief Bill Lighton, the lone abstainer, said his decision had to do with his not being able to examine the documents closely due to the war efforts in Roach-Busters and Generic Empire.

"I'm sure if we were at peace, I'd have read it and would approve it in a millisecond," Lighton said. "In all fairness to the process, I couldn't devote nearly enough attention to the bid and its particulars. It seems like it's a great deal."

Board Chairman Lucianus Dio, who didn't vote in accordance with the company's charter becuase he is of Praetonian descent, hailed the deal as "a sign that we're on the rise.

"This deal indicates that we have earned a place on the world stage as a supplier of airborne ordnance," Dio said. "We couldn't be happier to receive this contract."

The deal also includes an escalator clause where Avalon electronically sends information about all upgrades to the SZ-12 and has offered to refit any Praetonian-built aircraft free of charge. They will also offer to provide maintenance and repair in the event of mechanical difficulties.

The economics of a new country would limit its purchases at first, plus, I tend to do background checks of larger orders from countries I haven't heard of, but as long as you don't puppet-wank with this new country, that'd be fine. However, at any evidence of puppet-wanking, I would deny future orders.

Some folks frown on people who spend money with a brand new budget every day to "wank" their numbers in their military forces. I use one NS year = 1 RL day for storefront purchases/deliveries, so if you wanted to make daily visits, you can. Though I'd suggest waiting a few days at least just to be on the safe side. It would allow you to account for other expenses not related to buying warplanes. :)

Also, buying close to half your total defense budget on purchases for any one branch is generally frowned upon in RP circles. I'll offer you a payment plan though since it's a pretty large purchase for a country of your size.]

Work will begin immediately on the aircraft listed and we expect to have your order complete within five NS years (5 RL days) following the completion of aerial trials. We also accept the same payment plan that the Portland Iron Works granted you.

We have also taken your offer for production rights and for construction of AAC factories in Samtonia. We are intrigued by this possibility and will be pleased to discuss both options with you. I can send Karyn Branson, my Director of Finance, to Samtonia to make the arrangements for that.

The Avalon Aerospace Corporation has received and thanks you for your request to place an order with us. However, according to ThirdGeek (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=Buttenhausen), the order you placed would greatly exceed your overall presumed defence budget. If you would like to establish a payment plan or place an order that falls within your financial means, please contact my office to make further arrangements.

We hope to hear from you soon.

We have received your request for a payment plan proposal and we have the following offer for you. Since your order would take us approximately 10 NS years (10 RL days) to complete, we offer you the opportunity to pay one tenth of your total balance of $992 billion in equal installments of $99.2 billion each of the next 10 years until your entire order is completed following aerial trials.

Such a plan would be free of interest charges and would allow you to acquire the aircraft you have requested. Since you have identified the modernisation of your air force as a priority item, we will provide your aircraft to you as they have finished their aerial trials. We hope this arrangement is acceptable to you and we look forward to hearing from you in the future!

OOC: Hey Sarzonia, have you managed to make any progress on that gunship/special ops chopper I asked you to design for me?

OOC: Sorry about that... I haven't had much of a chance to work on anything for Avalon because of a lot of drama that's been going on of late. I have some ideas for the two choppers and I'll set to work on them, hopefully by the end of the week at the latest.
