Freedom Revolution

Reborn Free Peoples

OOC: This is an RP of events that technically have already taken place. This RP is about the collapse of my previous nation "People who are Free" (which was deleted due to inactivity) and the rise of my current nation "Reborn Free Peoples." The RP is completely open, though I prefer it if you t-gram me in advance if you are planning any major action, and it wouldn't really make sense for me to be completely erradicated as I have already created this new nation. So, please don't totally wipe out my country and take over my land...:)

"This just in. In an exclusive report by Free Action News, we have learnt that the controversial bill before the Free Peoples Parliament, the "Freedom Protection Act" has been passed by a vote of 57% in favor. Opposition leader John Mardok has the following comments"

"I am simply appauled by the actions that this government has taken recently. They have used their majority power over this government to give themselves complete power, removing the political power that was given to the people in the democratic revolutions years ago. Our party will not accept this final act and is calling upon the other parties in the Parliament to help us in enacting the Governmental Recall Act and force an election"

-----

"Force an Election! Damn! This man is trying to destroy our country! How can he be willing to sacrifice the freedom of this nation for a chance at political power" shouted Chief of State Thomas Handsworth.

"Can he even do that? You only recently took power. What are the conditions of the GRA?" asked one of Handsworth's younger advisors.

"The GRA requires that a period of 2 months passes after an election. It also requires the authorization of all opposition parties, and at least 40% of the parliament to pass the act. We control 62% so as long as we get 60% + 1 of our members to vote against it, he hasn't got a chance" replied the Party Whip, James Orthon.

"Yes, but how confident are you that you can get that 60% on an issue like this." snapped Handsworth.

"Our party may not be as united as the others, but they don't want to lose the power they have now...we'll be fine" replied Orthon.

-----

"Have the other parties signed the authorization?" asked John Mardok.

"Well, they are all worried about the kind of recognition that you will get from leading this kind of radical action. They think that you will end up as Chief of State. They've signed, but we have have some trouble with them later." replied his Chief Aide.

"Okay, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. What else is required to enact the GRA?"

"You need a 40% majority in the Representatives Board and at least one member from each region to approve the act in the Executive Council"

"Do we have any friends on the Executive Council?"

"Yes, the representatives from the North and South Regions as well as the Capital Region and the Outlands, but the East Region and the Midlands are associated with other opposition parties"

"Alright, talk to them and see if they're willing to go with us. What else do we need?"

"That's it, but we may need foreign support if the Government rejects the act. We could end up in civil war."

"We have to be careful to avoid that, no one wants a civil war"

OOC: I know there's not much for others to get involved in yet, but i promise that things will get more interesting.

"This is Action News, our top story: The leader of the Civil Rights Party, John Mardok, has officially placed a bill to enable the Governmental Recall Act on the floor of parliament. This issue has sparked a huge debate, and the bill is not expected to go to the vote for at least a month. In other news: A man has been arrested at Free City International Airport for 'Concealment of a banned object.' The man was carrying a nail file and did not surrender it at the security checkpoint, he was discovered with it later and taken into custody. John Mardok, made the following statement regarding the incident"

"This is an outrage! This is exactly why the Freedom Protection Act should not have been passed. It will only lead to mass paranoia, there is no need to protect the nation against the possible invasion of the nation by people with nail files!"

----

"This is terrible, I'll never manage to hold support now!" shouted Chief of State Thomas Handsworth.

"I've tried my best," said the Party Whip, "but we've lost our edge over Mardok. If the vote on the GRA was called today, he would get about 48%, that's more than enough to force an election."

"We can't let Mardok destroy this country! I just wish he was out of my hair" announced Handsworth

A man, who been silent through the entire meeting, left the room. He walked down the hall and into the elevator. He pressed the button for the ground floor and waited, listening to the elevator music. The door opened at the ground floor and he walked out towards the big glass doors at the front of the building. He pushed them open and was hit by a sudden blast of wind. It quickly subsided and he stepped out into the crowded walkway. He walked about 5 blocks and entered a large tower marked "FreeTel." He went directly to the elevator and pressed the up button. When the elevator arrived, he entered it. Good, no one's in it. Let's make sure it stays that way..., he thought. He pressed the Close Door button, but as the door closed, someone stuck his arm in the door and entered the elevator. Damn, gotta lose the civ.

"Sorry, elevator maintainance" he said, flashing his id card at the man who had just entered, hoping he wouldn't notice that the id card was an access card for "FreeTel Telephony,"

"Oh, sorry..." replied the man, and he left the elevator as the doors closed again.

Let's see if I can remember how to do this... he thought. He pressed the button for the sixth basement level and flashed his id card infront of the reader. The screen on the elevator panel changed as the elevator descended...B1...B2...B3...Almost there...B4...B5...Now...The man pressed the elevator stop button, he picked up the emergency phone and spoke clearly into it

"Sam Tirka, Access Code: B56J3F9E-99-U"

"Good afternoon Sam, present ID for check," came the response

Sam took out his FreeTel ID again and a half-length, white ID card. He covered the left half of the FreeTel ID with the white card and waved it in front of the reader.

"ID Accepted, prepare for retinal scan," came the voice, as Sam felt himself lurched forward as the elevator car moved into a parallel shaft. He pressed the keys for 2 and 4 and a small panel slid out of the right side of the elevator. On the panel were two eye-shape retinal scanners. He placed his eyes into the scanners and waited.

"Retinal scan accepted, please select floor," came the voice. It was followed by a click, the line was disconnected. Sam replaced the phone and pressed the button for 5. The elevator gave a lurch and began to move backwards. It then stopped and began a rapid ascent.

The door slid open and Sam stepped out. "FPIS HQ Level 5, Section A-9, Clearance: Red+" he read off of the panel infront of him. He turned to the left and walked down the hall towards a glass door. He placed his hand on the scanner beside it and it slid open smoothly. He walked in and the door slid closed behind him...
