there are two reasons im doing this. 1) fun. Who can get the highedst NS GDP!

2) because i think GDP calcs under estimate.

Using thirdgeek. Otherwise the best calculator going (i really like the details)

My economy is "frightening" and yet its GDP is less than the US (which i would have thought a powerhouse economy at best)

Anyway, please post your economy rating and your GDP per head.

Frightening:$35,965.73

not the best its been though...

I have this much for my GDP, which is a little small i think, compared to how large i am.

Economy: Strong (Havnt done an issue for about a year with this nation!)
GDP: $31,873,292,854,996.68
Per head: a pathetic $10,439.99

However i do manage to waste $726,901,301,954.40 That has to win some kind of award?

That would have something to do with the fact that I have a 'Frightening' Economy and you have a 'Strong' Economy.

Orange state: The reason you have a lower GDP per Capita then the U.S. is because you have a higher population, so you have more people to distribute the money to.

Yes, I understand, but my population increasing should not lower my GDP per head Im sure you agree there.

Countries with a higher GDP per capita generally have more people with money to play on the international markets with and do other such things as they are using all their output just to live (like most Africans do). And while I also realise the significance of your point, if the rating (strong/weak etc) were not per head then a 5 million country would be able to overshadow many 2 billion ones economically. Its possible to have a tiny powerhouse or a huge and weak economy. Plus things like "imploded" dont measure the total size do they?

What Im saying is that even when thought out per capita the US is not "frightening". The GDP scale of a sci fi world would not be limited by the limits of the real one. It would have nations lower and higher, and this calculator, and any otghers all the take the rather backwards idea that the US has the highest GDP per head possible, even in a nation where people have to buy to fuel the economy or are abducted overnight.

Im just saying that while i like the idea, they are all flawed by this rather dramatic oversight.

Im sure it is just an oversight, as the thirdgeek GDP calc really is astounding. Its got so many details, and the programmer obviously realised/decided economy ratings refer per capita but i still disgaree strongly with the actual levels (which get more innacurate as you get bigger)I dotn want to be seen as taking this apart however as its not the only one that does this (they all do)

ANyway back to business, GDP's please?

Yeah, in this context, size doesn't matter. Japan's GDP is lower than China's, but its economy would probably rate very strong, thriving, or maybe powerhouse, where China's would be perhaps reasonable.
GDP is the value of goods produced and services rendered in a nation each year, so a little nation like Switzerland can easily have a higher per capita GDP than a big one like Nigeria, and a little one like Guyana can be worse off than a big one like the USA. Yeah, that's pretty obvious.
Anyway, I don't use these calculators, because they're rubbish. Even the best ones don't even start to look like they might be capable of some day considering the possibility of perhaps thinking about trying to understand a little bit about any sort of communist economy. Plus most of them seem to take a modern USA as a benchmark in productivity and efficiency, which is probably too absurd a concept for anyone on earth to say outloud without cracking up.
It's impossible to rate Dra-pol's GDP in dollar terms, as we have no currency and do not engage in international trade for most of our domestic product (which accounts for almost all of our consumption, save for what is covered by freely donated international food aid).

:D

Yes, thats what I mean, the US is still pretty (un)competitive, but theres no way its the best it could be. Of cours Im bound to say that my GDP is much higher per head than them, but I honestly believe it.

Tough like I saod its nice to see those figure like trade balance and spending, I dont take them as gospel, but they make a nice guide (or just something to compair with the rest of your region)
