WAR in Soviet Balkans.(Open Modern Tech RP)

Soviet Balkans
05-06-2004, 15:14
The past 12 hours have proven to be deadly in Soviet Balkans. At around 2200 last night, the Fascist leader Egor Isanka was killed by a bomb that was placed in his home. The Fascist demand that the killers will reveal themselves. The Rebels, who control Albania and Macedonia immediatley pointed the finger at the Communists, who control Yugoslavia and Croatia. The Communists were outraged by such an accusation and answered back by saying the Rebels were the killers.

In response, the Fascist Air Force in Slovenia bombed the Croatian capitol of Zagreb. The death toll is feared near 1100. The Croatians answered back by destroying the Slovenian Naval Port at Koper.

At 0127 this morning, the new Fascist leader, Nikoli Petrovic made a speech that announced the planned invasion of Croatia. Reports from Samobor in Croatia show that the Croatian Army has basically moved 3/4 of its army to the Slovenia/Croatia border.

When this news reached Belgrade, The Communist Army was put on high alert, fearing the Fascists or the Rebels may attack them. Neutral Bosnia has called up reserves incase they are draw into the conflict.

Of course, Kazakhstania has friends in the region and wishes to stabilise the situation there.

However we do not wish to send in too many troops.

Therefore we are currently shipping in 10th Self Defense Division to the Croation border, to defend it. Also, 12th, 13th and 14th Heavy Air assets are being flown in.

We WILL defend the innocent nations.

Comrades of Croatia, we will assist you as best we can. We are deploying six regiments of Mi-24VP helicopters to you, along with four regiments of MiG-29Ms. While these have relatively short ETAs the ammunition will take longer to arrive, approximately 12 (RL) hours. Ground forces can be shifted to your nation, but their logiscti needs are just as bad and they'll take longer to move. Reply with areas for our units to be stationed if you are interested. Also, what type of fuelling system do your aircraft use? (i.e. do they use Soviet refuelling nozzles etc.)

The People's Republic wholeheartedly condemns this latest example of Communist aggression against their peaceful neighbours. Once again Communists have shown themselves to be an aggressive and warlike people, whose only wish is to force their ideals onto their neighbours. We shall not stand for this aggression.

----

Sixteen Vampire-class stealth bombers each carrying 16 Tacit Rainbow anti-radar missiles are sent to attack radar installations in Communist held territory.
A second wave consisting of twelve Vulcan-class heavy bombers are sent to attack bridges and railway lines suspected of being used to transport supplies to the Communist aggressors using 20 CALCM stand-off missiles each. These missiles will be launched from distances of at least 100 miles off the coast so as to minimise the risk of detection.
Finally, each airfield in Communist territory is attacked by a pair of Venona-class supersonic bombers, each carrying 20 SHOC stand-off cruise missiles with a range of 900km. They can penetrate up to 13.2m of concrete, and are targetted at runways, fuel dumps and Hardened Aircraft Shelters.
All aircraft are flown at low level so as to reduce the risk of being detected.
Now I know you Communists are rather fond of godmoding, so try to resist the urge to do so.

In a unseen attack, Neutral Soviet Bosnia has invaded Croatia and are 5 miles from Osijek. It has been revealed that Soviet Bosnia had signed an alliance with Soviet Slovenia. This has complicated matters because Soviet Croatia is fighting on 2 fronts. Soviet Croatia will not last much longer.

In response, Soviet Yugoslavia will commense air raids on Bosnia.

ZAGREB IS ALMOST UNDER SOVIET SLOVENIAN CONTROL.

The Soviet Croatian Army has left Zagreb, and are redeploying in the hills. The Soviet Slovenians now control Zagreb. Both Armies have lost close to 20,000 troops. I SUGGEST THAT IF YOU HAVE DELEGATES IN SOVIET CROATIA, TO LEAVE, BEFORE THEY BECOME CASUALTIES.

The air raids on Soviet Bosnia have proven to be unsuccesful.

Twelve SB-70 Stealth Bombers came from absolutely nowhere. They flew low and fast.

Zagreb was burning.

The rebel positions were pin-pointed and the data was calculated by the computer and loaded into the seeker heads of the missiles. Each bomber loosed off two RVZ-25 laser guided missiles. Many Slovenian hardpoints went up in flames. The bombers came in for a second pass over a large asembly area. Their 'Kosher' pods opended and small bomblets made a mess of the vehicles and infantry on the concrete. Just as silently, the SB-70 turned and flew back to USSBC bases.

THE USSBC HAS DISPATCHED A NAVAL GROUP AND A FULL AIRMOBILE DIVISION TO HELP THE CROATIONS!

At the nearest air base, on the runway, several Tu-160's were gearing up for take off.

Above, several F-45's were already patrolling, ready for escort.

On the ground, long range missile and artillery units were gearing up. Zagreb would be retakien, or what was left of it.

At 70 miles out, Anti Radar missiles were launched at any anti aircraft placements, 56 missiles in total.

At 60 miles, all hell broke loose. Over 150 cruise missiles tipped with Fuel Air Explosives were fired at troop formations in the city, along with several napalm missiles and cluster minutions.

Then, at 50 miles the bombers peeled off and the escorts fired 120 Short Range Thermium Nitrate tipped missiles at tank formations.

The OOB that took part:

56 Tu-160 Bombers
60 F-45 Fighters
20 F-42 Fighters

On the ground, however, thingd were just hotting up.

1,500 176mm Artillery Guns fired, firing at dense tank formations and troop areas. 200 MLRS's fired at the same targets.

On the move:

24 M-42 Ultra Heavy Battle Tanks
60 M-26UM5 Battle Tanks
90 M-15UM3 Battle Tanks
120 M-31 AA Vehicles

600 Assorted Heavy IFV's, IFV's and APC's

As you can see we will not take a large part in the ground war.

24 MS-6s took off from the 'Kit's deck in the early morning, as the rising sun painted the sea an appropriate crimson red. The two dozen ground-attack aircraft swooped low as to evade Slovenian radars. They flew over Pula and then entered Slovenian territory. Soon Lubljana came into view, with its battered buildings. The jets screamed low over the northern suburbs where there were Slovenian reserves and loosed off cluster ammunition and cannon fire. As they wheeled around for a second pass and released yet more hot death on the bewildered enemies, a few SLovenians loosed off shoulder-launched SAMs. The extensive ECW pods on each MS-6 took care of most IR-guided missiles but a few hit home. 3 MS-6s fell among the ruins, 5 more damaged. As the jets screamed towards the south, one fell to the ground due to a fuel leak.

Meanwhile...

'Sonar just picked something up, sir!' shouted the young sailor.
A bleep had jsut showed up at about 5 km from the 'Rakovki' Frigate. Too close!
A torpedo was quickly dropped into the water and it went straight for the sub. At the last moment the vessel skipped under the cold water belt that confused sonars. But it wasnt for long. The enemy was soon up again to take a shot at the group. But it came out of the belt straight under a 'Levski' ASW Destroyer. The vessel was designed just for this and within minimal time ASROC launchers filled the sea around with deadly projectiles.
'Screw sounds ceased sir. You can hear oxygen rising to the surface and creaking bulkheads. It is going down sir.' the sailor at the sonar said to Captain Stoyanov.
'Do we know who that sub belonged to?' he asked

6 'Rakovski' Frigates
4 'Tovar' Replenishment Ships
1 'Krokodil' Amphibious Assault Ship with a full brigade of marines
3 'Delfin' SSN/SSGNs

This large naval group is in teh Adriatic, ready for action against non-communist naval forces.

'No, sir. It's usnpecified, but it was a SSK.'
'Well, one-nill to us!' Stoyanov smiled.

A Carrier Battle Group headed by the PRSS Andvordia has been despatched to Ionian Sea to prevent resupply operations for the enemy fleets congregating in the Adriatic, as well as to prevent reinforcements.

----

A two wave air attack is launched against the Bulgar fleet. The first wave consists of 22 Vulcans, each carrying a complement of 20 decoy missiles. These missiles are launched from a range of 1500 km from the fleet. At a range of 245km from the fleet, they begin emitting ECM signals to make their radar cross-section appear much larger. Some will appear as Vulcans, others will appear as Harpoons.
The second wave consists of forty Venonas split into twenty 2 ship formations. Each carries a complement of 6 Yakhont-3 sea-skimming anti-ship missiles, which will be launched from a range of 785km, three minutes after the decoy missiles begin jamming.
The idea behind this attack (which I shall outline now, because you Communists often have some quite ludicrous ideas about how this works) is that the first wave of decoys will draw most of the SAMs the fleet has. The second wave will then have to face a lot less fire. Now, you may wish to look at the experiences of the Royal Navy during Operation Corporate, which showed quite clearly that it is possible for an anti-ship missile to sink a warship. Also bear in mind that I am firing a lot more missiles than the Argentinians were, and that my missiles are almost four and a half times faster than the Exocet, and that they have a bigger warhead.

"...the attacks have destroyed 5 air bases, severely crippling the air force."

"Ha! You hear that Igor? The silly bastards can't land now!" The shout came from the pilot of an Mi-24V as he gave his flare racks an examination in the afternoon sun. The only reply he received was a grunt from Igor Strekhov as he finished running the checks on his own helicopter. They were off in ten minutes for an attack on enemy units, some tanks, some AA systems and a lot of trucks and APCs. It promised to be a slaughterhouse; a regiment of Mi-24s versus trucks and APCs was not an even contest. Strehhov mused on the mission at hand; a nice easy first deployment, provided the enemy's AAA wasn't too good. Half an hour later, the Mi-24s lifted off, flying low over the rolling countryside towards the Slovenian lines, while behind and above them, escorted by MiG-29Ms operating from one of the few operational airfields, a Tu-16PP EW plane waited for the order to light its powerful active jammers off. The sky was clear and almost cloudless, and as yet remarkably quiet in their sector. The flight to their objective would take about forty minutes, and they were expected to receive and intel update half-way from a high-flying MiG-25RB recconnaissance plane.

OOC: Aargh, I wrote a long description of the damages and reaction, but the post failed and deleted it, so sorry for the dry answer, its just a list of the damage.

Losses:
1 Cruiser
4 Destroyers
4 Frigates
1 'Tovar' Ship

Damages:
Everything except the Krokodil is damaged to a certain extent, either by hits or blast of near-misses. 1 Frigate - severely damaged.

Response:
MP-7s that lifted off from the 'Kit' after expanding their missiles at the incomings, managed to get to the vicinty of the launch point of the second strike (as they were inburduned by missiles) and destroy 9 Vulcan bombers with their cannons.

24 'Varkolak' anti-ship missiles are launched towards the south. They rise to a high altitute, get data from satellites or AWACS (satellite in this case) and are directed to the general direction of the target. Once within range of seeker head, they drop to 3-5m above the water, and zoom in on their own. So, 24 launched at you...

2 subs heading your way

A Naval AirForce bomber group has taken off. Actions in later post.

Can you specify size of your fleet? The ball is in your court.

4 S-3 ASW aircraft
12 EA-5 Centaur electronic warfare varients
22 A-5 Centaur ground attack
37 Harpy stealth fighters

Air Wing (QEII)
2 EV-22
2 KA-5 Centaur tanker varients
3 EH-101 Merlin ASW\SAR helicopters
2 S-3 ASW aircraft
6 EA-5 Centaur electronic warfare varients
17 A-5 Centaur ground attack
18 Harpy stealth fighters

Although I use real-life ships, you should bear in mind that they have a few tweaks to make them unique, mainly different weapons systems. Also, everything but the frigates and logistics ships are nuclear powered.

Remember, you cannot post the results of your attacks, i.e. you cannot claim to have shot down 9 Vulcans. Firstly it is unlikely you would even be able to find the Vulcans, given that they were 1500km away when they launched the missiles, and that the flight time of the missiles before they began jamming was approximatly two hours. That gives them time to put at least an additional 1500km between them and your fleet.
Now, it's possible that you meant that your fighters attacked the Venonas (you did say second launch point after all). They can supercruise at a speed of Mach 1.2, and they had a 785km headstart. Again, it isn't likely you would find them, and since the egress routes for both waves would take them past my carrier group you would have to deal with the CAP.

Decoy floats are thrown overboard to try and distract some of the inbound missiles. These are small rafts with a jamming suite onboard to enlarge their radar cross-section. Helicopters are also launched to assist in SAR should any missiles get through, and also to act as decoy targets for the missiles.
Two Aster 30 anti-missile missiles are fired at each of the inbound missiles while they are still at high altitude. After they drop to low level, the two northern-most Arleigh Burke's begin firing Sea Wolf anti-missile missiles at the inbound targets. These have demonstrated their ability to destroy sea-skimming targets. Each ship fires two Sea Wolfs at each of the remaining inbound targets. They also open fire with their Vanguard-class CIWS, which fire depleted uranium armour piercing shells. Unfortunately, five of the missiles get through, striking one of the FFG-7s, and two of the EH-101 Merlin. The rest hit decoys.

A patrolling S-3 detects the two inbound submarines using a LASH hyperspectral sensor pod. The two targets are then attacked using depth charges and Mk 46 torpedoes. Helicopters will be sent to pick up any survivors (assuming the attack is succesfull)

At Heington Space Port, a pair of CloudRaker-class shuttles are launched, the John Buddle and the Derwent. Each carries five 2.5lb depleted uranium shells for use against Bulgar satellites in low earth orbit (i.e. recon satellites), and three missiles that use a Hohmann Transfer to attack Bulgar satellites in higher orbits (i.e. GPS and communications satellites). The data on the orbits of the targetted satellites comes from the Favourdale Space Tracking Centre. Priority is given to satellites whose projected orbits will take them over the Balkans, but if you've got satellites whose function is to look for ICBM launches, they won't be targetted.

OOC: Will post later, as I have GCSEs today and tommorow. Can you also specify where relative to the Balkans are you? (the country I mean). I just need to know so I can assess your force projection capabilities and so.

OOC: Whoever's controlling Sov. Slovenia please post response to movements - helicopters don't lend themselves to long-range ayttacks where the defender can just spoecify losses. :?

Think Greenland only further south so it's at a lattitude similar to that of the UK. There are constant patrols from E-3 AWACS and Nimrod MRAs to provide early warning of any attack. There are also several satellites in a geosynchronus orbit over locations approximately 150miles from the Shildonian coast equipped with synthetic apeture radar to provide additional early warning capability
As far as force projection goes the strategic bomber fleet of Shildonia consists of 2510 aircraft of three different types, along with approximatly 2170 tankers, though naturally not all of them would be used to support this operation. In addition, some of the Vulcans can be configured to carry buddy tanks on under wing pylons should the need arise to reinforce the conventional tanker fleet should the need arise.
Naval force projection comes mainly from the 35 carrier groups, most of which are on patrol in various theatres around the world, or are in for repairs\overhaul, but five of them are on port alert, and could be surged to provide reinforcements within 48hours of the order being given, though naturally it would take several additional days for them to arrive on scene.
Of course, how much of that you would know is dependant on how good your intelligence capabilities are, though obviously it is rather difficult to hide something as big as an aircraft carrier.

OOC: My GCSEs go on ofr another two weeks, but I will be able to post more elaborately on Thursday (10th). Sorry for the delay, it's just that these are important tests.
Also can the other people, on both, sides post more-damages wise and what is happening, as it is getting very confusing. That's my rant over. :P

Then all of a sudden,The bombers were shot out of the air by a AA-7 grail missile from a squadron of 3 F-16s from a mysteriously intervening nation--Wulaishen
