UNION OR NO?
Hello I have been looking around at many regions and it seems like they all work as alliances. Well I was thinking aren't two heads better than one? I think that if a region were to act and work as one nation then the resources of all would go to the benefit of the region and that region could easily surpass in power regions that were significantly smaller than it. Please tell me what you think.
I think that it is an interesting idea. I mean it is logical. However also I think that a permanent ruler of so sort would have to be in place or it might go hay wire.

Generally that's the way it works: UN delegates have votes from all UN members in the region. Other than that, the nations have to act for themselves.
First of all Havatov I agree at least at first I thought that yes you would need a stable leader to first build up the nation.
The some people in USSR (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ussr) were toying with that Idea, but it is really unworkable in NS, and it would kill RP if the Nations are no better than US states or USSR Republics.
In response to what you brought up Late Earth I know that there are UN delegates however I was thinking that all the nations in a region would do what was in the best interests of the region as a country not just going off on their own. In a sense what I am saying is that each "country" would be like a single citizen of a nation.
However what if for RP wars there was a national bank of troops that is the combined arms of all the nations inside a Region State that could be used by any nation in the Region State. Also yes the countries would be like States of the US or USSR republics however just look at how powerful they were and are.
Also if you think about it States in the US have a lot of freedom and power. Partly because they are part of a group that combined is a superpower. Just like the Region States I have envisioned.
Also I was thinking that the founder could be the leader and ruler of the Region State. And that the citizens could have some power to override the Leader if he did something unpopular.

The USSR does this (along with other regional defences) however this combined pool of troops/defences can only be commanded by an appointed general or the president of the region.

Actually, your idea is one which I thought of a bit while back. I never actually tried it though, considering that most people will be unwilling to simply act as an state, rather than a seperate entity...
As far as the national bank I was thinking that all citizens would be able to access the bank of troops.
Also yes some people would not want to live as a state inside a country however some people would and I was thinking that if those people got together then all of them could make their own Region State.
I think that the whole thing is and interesting idea.
