General Ignace Baldwin was sitting in his office, overlooking the paperwork just brought in.

Excellent. Everything is quietly falling into place. Having that stupid cousin of mine start a litlle guerilla war against the Famiconian moloch was a great idea. An excellent diversion. I'd really have to thank the Doe fellow. Too bad Seamus Finnerty will have to die, and the rest of that little High Council too. Oh well, collateral damage.

A smirk appeared on Ignace's face. Soon Maxxia would belong to him. His troops were already moving into place, and the High Council wouldn't even know it if he shouted it out on the streets... Excellent indeed.

It was a calm evening in Maxxia. The High Council was in a meeting. Once again, the topic was wether or not the Maxxian army should or should not get involved in the guerrilla war against Famicon, led by the Maxxian Freedom Army, nothing more than a bunch of terrorists after all - though that wasn't Maxxia's official standpoint. The meeting was getting nowhere, and was gradually degrading into a common bickering, as per usual on these kinds of topics. Seamus Finnerty forsaw this, and was about to step onto the stage, to adress the Council. But suddenly, a giant explosion could be heard outside. And then, everything went black before his eyes.

General Baldwin walked in triumphantly, surrounded by soldiers. The door to the Council Building was blown open by a tank, and many of the people sitting close to the door were now dead. Ignace looked at the stage. On it lay Seamus Finnerty's lifeless body, headless. The sniper had done a great job. Baldwin's cronies had already rounded up the other Elder Counsellors, who were kneeling on the stage, with their head between their legs.

"You may rise. I will even spare your lives, if you swear allegiance to me. Maxxia has, for too long, been a puny liberal country. It is time we take our rightful place in the world. It is time that we show our worth! And you have the choice. You may be there, right with me on the stage of history, or you may die."

Several of the Elder Councellors took the poisoned daggers offered to them, and commited suicide.
What a waste of poison. They would've gotten a heart attack in two minutes anyway. Measely old men. How they ever were allowed to run this country is beyond me.
Others stood up, and saluted. "We swear allegiance to thee!", they chorused.
Ignace Baldwin turned his back and started walking outside, signalling to them not to follow him. "Very well", he said while walking outside."They are still as gullible as ever."
He walked outside, and took one of the ceremonial swords stored in the museum next to the Council Room. He walked back in, right to the stage.
"Kneel again. You shall be knighted in the Order ... OF FAMICON!"
And with that, he cut their heads off with one swift swing. Maxxia now finally belonged to his rightfull owner...

Emperor Theodore McRippa.

Later that evening, the Famiconian flag flew brightly over the Council Building. The army was sent Southwards to make sure the MFA was brought to a stop. Phase two would soon start...

(OOC: and has already started, this thread takes place the evening before Famicon's last post in the war thread ...)
