Armacor in Space (again)

Armacor

this is a copy of stuff i posted in our regional forum.

7th nov

TASS State News Agency (copied on AP)
Armacor, i a response to growing population pressures, has decided to embark on a colonisation attempt of the moon. Dispite armacor being one of the first nations to reach the moon, on the 1/2/3 (//ooc i did but the page is deleted ooc\\), has no current presence there, and is currently restricted to geosyncronous orbit. They will be conducting frequent space launches under tight security to expand the capabilites of their space station, (//ooc currently SKYLAB level tech ooc\\) and proceed to the moon.

//ooc i am going under the assumption that space is now empty... all life that may have existed there is gone... and earth is it... i would prefer to say humans (and others) were never there, but cant due to a post about "The Evil's" elves from mars (i think)

also does anyone have any decent aerospace tech to sell, trade, or other?

Tass reports:
Armacor tested a new Saturn VI booster today, however due to a problem with the LOX storage there was a catastrophic failure of containment on the launch pad. We are reviewing our security proceedures, however we do not consider this a terrorist attack. We will be attempting another launch within the next few days. However using our shuttles and Saturn 5 launches we have managed to start the construction of a space station in Geosyncronous orbit, built out of stage 1 fuel tanks from the launches.

In other news Armacor has launched an unmanned probe to the Astroid belt between mars and jupiter, for "exploration purposes".

12th nov
Armacor has claimed an asteroid of significant size to it's own flag. The asteroid is now called Oberon. Robotic constructors have begun mining operations on the surface and dismantaling the armacor ship.

In further news Armacor has perfected the Staturn VI booster, able to lift an incredible 3 Metric Ton to orbit, for a cost of only @245,920..

14th nov
TASS reports:
Massive changes are occuring on the surface of Oberon, the Armacor ship has been totally disassembled, many rockets have been assembled on the surface of the asteroid, and they appear to be being used to slow and stablise the rotation of Oberon.

15th Nov
TASS REPORTS:
Oberon has been completely stabilised, with zero rotation. Constuction of the tail has been completed, this now appears to be a Mass Driver and has accelerated Oberon out of the Asteroid belt towards Earth.

17th Nov
TASS Reports:

After two (NS) months (days in RW) of travel, Oberon has entered orbit around the earth. Controlled use of altitudinal thrusters has allowed Oberon to achive Geosyncronous orbit over Armacor's capital. The Mass Driver and many of the thrusters have been dismantled.

17th Nov (from Parg, not Armacor)
The Daily Parg:
Parg looks ot the skys and sees a whopping asteriod overhead:

As Parg citisens and citizens from around the region look up the the sky, countless people worry about what is next for the future.

"This is atrocious" says Parg diplomat Jane Turnbull. "They cant just bring an asteriod into orbit and hope it goes well with everyone else. Many nations have spent countless millions putting sattelites into orbit and now this monster hovers about above our heads, both taking up space and being very dangerous to us on the ground as well as damaging sattalites..."

Andrea Bond, a representative of the mining industry in Parg later said "this is an excellent opportunity for humans firstly to discover what asteriods are made of and as a source of raw materials. We should do our best to strengthen our relationship with Armacor and divide up the astriod for mining or something... Just think of all the extra raw materials and profit we can make from this. It's not like our space program has much to show for other than a few measily satallites anyway."

Four year old James Doohan loves the idea of having a real live asteriod in orbit and fantasises about aliens making 'beep beep beep' noises.

ooc// you are lucky i ignored astrophysics, otherwise i would have had to slow it down in multiple orbits (pretty much taking out all space stuff Smile )

TASS REPORTS:
Large Scale construction appears to be occuring on the surface of the new Moon, with the construction of a space dock on one end. Once the port was completed 8 Saturn VI boosters were launched in quick succession (1 every 12 hours). Where they docked with the new moon.

18th Nov (from Parg)
ooc// arent things going a little too fast don't you think? //ooc

18th Nov
ooc// well i am going with 1RL day is about 1 NS month... some ppl do it as a year, some as a week, for this i chose a month.... its all automated... and had been planned for a while...

TASS REPORTS:
The Saturn VI boosters were all sucessfully mated with Oberon, whereapon construction of a space launch platform was completed. Now for almost no energy expense Armacor can launch unmanned probes into space, manufactured out of Oberon. Also constructed was a receiving bay on Oberon, able to guide in and capture an asteroid up to 1/4 the size of Oberon. Out of the pit where these new asteroids would be stored were created the guide rails to bring them in. Deep inside the asteroid huge tanks were constructed, for the storage of volitiles, mostly Oxygen, Hydrogen, Water, and Nitrogen. These are produced by baking out of the rock of Oberon, itself. Finally three rockets were launched out into the solar system. Two homing in on the asteroid belt and one on a trajectory to intercept a nearby comet.
