Does anyone have a personal rocket launcer that would...

work a zero-gravity environment without blowing its user backward? We wish to buy plans.

Sorry, but Newton's Law is not to be broken. The Physics police are gonna come after your butt.

There are physics police!!!! *Looks around nervously and then runs shouting YIKES*

Physics police can go stick it, it is possible to build a (nearly) recoilless rocket launcher, the most efficient method would to be to have the launcher eject the rocket with minimal force, and then the rocket engages after a few seconds (of course, the enemy could get out of the way, but in theory, it would work. Or you could set it up so that it vented the exhaust from the rocket to cancel any motion created by the rocket's launch.

Hmm, Not blow the user backwards? The only way you could do that is have an equal amount of thrust pusing the user fowards. Perhaps a energy missile is what is needed here? My nation will start work on an explosive spacebourne personal torpedo system. We will post here when completed.

CoreWorlds is right, it's a physics impossibility. The only way to do what you're saying is similar to weapons from a stealth aircraft: Opening a "bay", dropping the weapon, which then free falls before the engine ignites.

But this is most certainly not a "man portable system", no.

Would you be interested in energy ones?

Yes there is a such a thing in SciFi, just scale down a massdriver *nods firmly* no recoil to worry much about.

ITS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, IT CAN BE DONE , JUST NOT CHEAPLY or efficently for that matter, BUT IT CAN BE DONE!

EDIT: Kurai... duh... mass drivers... I use those already :P

Well, i suppose such a rocket launcher could be contructed that could be fired with little to no kickback, but you would either need to make the launcher weigh more than the force created by the rockets thrust(for little kickback) or have some kind of equalizer anti-thrust system(a little pressurized air to counteract the thrust of the force of the rocket. Easier done when the rocket launcher weighs equal or more than the force of the rockets engines)

Demmit! it's possible, just have accelerator rings like a massdriver but smaller :D

Lasers we can do ourselves, we want explosives.

What about a directed, explosive energy burst?

Aheam....

Recoiless rifle anyone?

soviet RPG family?

A recoiless rifle would do the job but would likely face problems on board space craft (of course using explosives on a space craft in the frist place is rahter stupid), what with all that exhaust gas etc flying around.
