The Republic of Penglai is currently researching and developing the follow technology:
Resource Technologies:
Advanced Recycling: The goal is to development of the technology and techniques necessary for the recycle most types of plastics, paper and metals, as well as the implementation of a large-scale recycling program to achieve this goal.
Estimated Cost: 1 billion PY ($80 million USD)
Time to Develop: 3 years
Energy Conservation: The development of technology and conservation methodology that allows for more efficient use of electricity and fuel, which will reduces the national need for resources such as oil and coal.
Estimated Cost: 1 billion PY ($80 million USD)
Time to Develop: 3 years
Modular High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (MHTGR): development and construction of 500 MW MHTGR power plants with dual-use capabilities – desalination, petrochemical refining and industrial applications. Current national development plans call for the construction of no less than 30 reactors.
Estimated Cost: 1.25 billion PY ($100 million USD) for development and 25 million PY ($2 million USD) per plant
Time to Develop: 5 years, additional time for plant construction
Production Technologies:
Industrial Automation: The development of technology designed increases industrial efficiency through new types of industrial robotics and manufacturing techniques.
Estimated Cost: 625 million PY ($50 million USD)
Time to Develop: 2 years
Hybrid Crops: The development and introduction of new hybrid crop strains to increase yield, as well as farm subsidies to encourage their use.
Estimated Cost: 625 million PY ($50 million USD)
Time to Develop: 2 years
Industrial Machine Tool Designs: A government supported program for the designing and development of various new, improved and concept machine tools, everything from hand-held welders and jackhammers to huge earth movers and Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), with the goals of increase production, maximize efficiency, minimize manual labor and decrease cost.
