Star League Astronomers say that they may have discovered planets orbiting a yellow dwarf much like our own sun. The exact coordinates are classified, but we have learned that the 1st Battlegroup, Home Defense Fleet has been dispatched to scan the system and return with the data for further analysis. More to come later.

First, and foremost, I would like to congradulate the scientists involved in this on one hell of a find. If we thought that Sol system was a gem, then this one is the world's best diamond. Our report is as follows:

Dar-es-Salaam [70 million miles] - In Arabic this means "Heaven of Peace" and was dubbed that by an Arab scientist aboard the McKenna that found this place more peaceful and beautiful than any Terran desert. At 70 million miles from the system's Yellow Dwarf this place is boiling hot, even with decent cloud cover on the poles temps were not recorded to be any less than 89 degrees fahrenheit and reached as high as 160 degress fahrenheit at the equator. Top wind speeds were recorded at 15 Mp/H but we usually around 5 Mp/H. Core samples suggest high concentration of sillicates as well as coal and oil, which is typical of most Terran deserts. There is a small ocean near the southern pole, we speculate that it might shrink or dry up during the summer months and refill during the winter months. No satellites. NOTE: Planet spins in retrograde and is the only one in the system to do so, eerily similar to Venus in that respect.

New Home [95 million miles] - This planet is overall the most similar to our own with varying climate depending on region and a good deal of water. There are three continents on the planet and one is most definately worth noting. Spina Planetia is a pole-to-pole supercontinent that pretty much covers an entire hemisphere of the planet. The one feature that sticks out on this continent is the mountain range that stretches from one pole to the other like a snake, suggesting a collision of two continents. Two more smaller continents on the southern half of the opposite hemisphere complete the major land masses. The first, Goldwyn, is near the equator and is much like Brazil in that respect with dense rainforests and the world's largest river. The other, Arbergeiht, is like Australia in that it is only truly habitibale near the coast and the interior is desert with deep valleys and many plateus. We suspect that with such similarities to Terra it will be likewise blessed with Natural resources, but we are as yet unsure. Two sattelites

Skye [135 million miles] - This planet is named Skye for good reason, with its climate and landmass very similar to that of Scotland. There are only a couple of seas to account for any major bodies of water while rivers and lakes make up most of the planet's water content. We suspect that the planet is rich with oil, coal, and precious metals such as gold and titanium, but we cannot be sure. One sattelite.

Tharkad [170 million miles] - This place is the exact opposite of Dar-es-Salaam. Bitter cold with temps that reach no more than 50 degrees fahrenheit at the equator. About the only sign of life we recorded on the planet were massive evergreen trees that make up huge forests up to what we have classified as the planet's polar circles. At the circles, winds are extremely high and would more than likely kill a person, even if they were dressed in the heaviest cold-weather gear we had. There is one ocean about the size of the Atlantic, but it is the planet's obvious sign of water besides all of the snow and ice. This planet would make a perfect target for our Orbital Bombardment drills. Two small sattelites likewise covered in ice

Resource Belt [no set distance, very wide] - This is the gem of the system. Almost every valuable metal and gem can be found in this belt, or so we suspect. In our short time in-system we have brough back core samples from asteroids that contain the follow metals and gems: Gold, Silver, Cobalt, Uranium, Obsidian, Diamonds, Sapphires, and Rubies. We don't know why this belt formed, but we don't care at the moment. Our suggestion is to exploit it to the fullest extent.

After the discovery of what is now called the Tempest Star System, the government put out a call for 1.25 million volunteers from each of the four nations of the Star League to go to Tempest System and settle it. Four infantry divisions, one from each nation, will be among those who make the voyage. Exact plans for the system are not know, but what is known is that New Home (the most earthlike planet in Tempest) will be the first to be settled.

Early reports from the government indicate that the five million settlers are doing well. The report tells that basic inferstructure has been laid down and that mining operations have begun on three of the four planets as well as the system's asteroid belt. Also, sources inside the military have told us that construction has begun on two orbital shipyards that have a capacity for four ships, one in orbit around the second and third planets from the sun.
