Stop Animal Testing

The Naked Tribe
14-06-2007, 22:15
Description: For many years now the business world has been taking advantage of animals without any repercussion. I say that this changes changes! Why should companies test their chemical products on animals? These businessmen test their products on animals because of insurance issues. This should no longer be tolerated. This practice is unjust and must be stopped. Upon approval any company that practices animal testing will be forced to test through other means, violators will be fined, and prosecuted.

Can we do all of our testing on you then?

Do you have an actual proposal, or is this essay the extent of your intended contribution?

/me checks UN proposals on ns...

actually, that is the text of his proposal.

TNT, if you look at the Rules For UN Proposals [Now Binding]
UN Proposals are attempts to introduce new legislation to member nations. By submitting a Proposal, you are stating that you have found something in the NS world that needs to be addressed and you are attempting to do so by forcing a change to all members. For this reason, UN Proposals must be more than just rhetoric. While they need not be written like "real" UN documents, they do need to be more than just your opinion. Essays belong in the General Forum, or the Serious Discussions Forum, not the UN floor.

Isn't there already a daily issue dealing with animal testing? I believe that there is. As such if your country wants to ban animal testing select that option when the daily issue occurs which it eventually will trust me.

Otherwise stop wasting the UN's time.

There are also issues dealing with prostitution, abortion, nuclear weapons and a myriad of other topics that the UN has passed resolutions on. Just because there's an issue on a topic doesn't mean that the UN can't touch the issue.

Well excuse me for trying to stop a wacko before they propose a needless resolution. Im sure, Fibbleites, that you and I agree that such issues would be better decided by indivdual nations and not by the UN.

And I'm pointing out to you that your argument doesn't hold water. Just because there's an issue on a subject doesn't mean the UN can't touch it, conversly the existance of a UN resolution on an issue doesn't stop any issue on the subject from coming up. Issues and UN resolutions are completely seperate from one another.

Im sure, Fibbleites, that you and I agree that such issues would be better decided by indivdual nations and not by the UN.
Actually, when it comes to nukes I'll have to disagree with you, especially when it comes to resolution #109.;)

I think it shall be the Nation's choice for or against Animal testing.

Allow me to write the proposal proposal. I'm good at authoring proposals that propose radical and highly progressive change such as this this.

The United Nations,

ALARMED by the damage done to habitats and animals in the name of development development,

NOTING that animals are our friends friends,

FURTHER NOTING that animals are cute and fuzzy fuzzy,

FURTHER NOTING that animals have feelings feelings,

FURTHER NOTING that animal cruelty is cruel cruel,

RECOGNIZING that it would be selfish and inhumane to kill dozens or even hundreds of defenseless animals fr the benefit of a few ailing humans humans,

RESOLVING to put an end to the suffering of lesser species, hereby hereby:

1) Outlaws the use of animals in any and all testing or research without their consent consent;

2) Outlaws the imprisonment of animals that have done nothing wrong wrong;

3) Grants animals the same rights and privileges of humans humans,
a) Does not grant animals the same responsibilities as humans and does not require them to obey the law law,
b) Grants imprisoned animals compensation for their wrongful imprisonment, enslavement, and crimes against their species species;

4) Promote a panel to create committees to fund and support organizations to perform research previously carried out on animals to now be carried out on consenting humans humans.

How's that that?

Also, what's with the double words at the end of every sentence?

I say that this changes changes!
I thought I'd try doing the same so the originial proposer would feel more involved involved.

Say goodbye to captive breeding programs for endangered species.

Ah the glories of unintended consequences thanks to UN resolutions. Zyrwick would have to oppose anything that would prohibit us from our captive breeding programs for rare and endangered animals.

Further I would like to point out that some nations do not have the technological development necessary to make animal testing redundant, thus also decreasing the likelihood of those nations find cures for diseases that plague a nation specifically.

I also question the use of the doubling of the last word of each sentence. Is that just to make the reader think the author is smoking something and not sharing? Or does it have a real purpose?

Zyrwick would have to oppose anything[snip]
The rest of that sentence would appear to be redundant. :-)
