Description: The UN should recognize that all people are created equal. The matter of race, sex, religion or sexual preference should not make anyone less equal. These are inalienable rights of all UN nation citizens.

ARTICLE I- No one race or culture is better than another.

ARTICLE II- Males and Females should be treated as equals. Whether it be in the workplace or at home.

ARTICLE III- Not a single religion or belief is better or more right than another.

ARTICLE IV- One should have the right to express their love for a member of the same sex.

OK, given the widespread opposition to this godawful resolution and the fact that the current state of play (Votes For: 11,222, Votes Against: 6,081) means it's almost certain to pass I thought I'd get the ball rolling on the repeal movement. As TilEnca and others have pointed out, it's best we all come together and post one well-thought-out repeal rather than a batch of less solid ones. As a hopeless n00b I don't intend to submit myself but I'll offer my thoughts on the drafting and help with a telegram campaign. So, to start the ball rolling here's what I think the current state of play is:

Valid complaints:

The resolution title is unjustifiably broad in scope.
Some minorities, the disabled have been mentioned, are not covered at all by this resolution.

The resolution is vague.
In particular it fails to:
a) define key terms (belief, equal, "express their love")
b) propose legislation
c) state whether enforcement is the role of nations or the UN

The resolution is self-contradictory.
Article II and Articles I and III in particular blatently contradict each other.

The resolution is redundant.
It merely rehashes legislation contained within the following, better worded, resolutions:

RESOLUTION #7 "Sexual Freedom"
RESOLUTION #12 "Gay Rights"
RESOLUTION #19 "Religious Tolerance"
RESOLUTION #26 "The Universal Bill of Rights"
RESOLUTION #69 "The Sexes Rights Law"
Possibly RESOLUTION #49 "Rights and Duties of UN States"

The resolution is dangerous.
Articles I and III could lead to any number of human-rights violations on the basis of equality of culture or equality of belief.

The resolution is counter-productive.
Equal treatment of men and women at the workplace, as enshrined in Article II, runs into deep problems when issues such as maternity leave are considered.

Invalid complaints:

My nation doesn't support gay marriage.
You already have gay marriage in your nation thanks to RESOLUTION #12 "Gay Rights"

My nation doesn't support homosexuality.
As above but with RESOLUTION #7 "Sexual Freedom"

My nation has only one religion.
As above but with RESOLUTION #19 "Religious Tolerance"

My nation doesn't support equality.
As above but with RESOLUTION #26 "The Universal Bill of Rights" &
RESOLUTION #69 "The Sexes Rights Law"

If you have the above complaints first get the resolutions mentioned above repealed, then try to repeal this one.

Any comments welcome, then we can get to work on drafting the repeal. Let's get this heap of you know what off the books ASAP.

Only one problem: Getting past the bleeding hearts who never read past the first paragraph and have not read any of the other UN resolutions.

Contact me when you have a repeal proposal for this, or almost any other resolution currently on the UN books.

At least this author made a half-hearted attempt to actually frame his/her argument as a resolution. Like so many other resolutions it was poorly written, overbroad and ill-defined. People seem not to even bother reading the actual resolution. I believe I could title a resolution "Kittens Are Cute" and then make a pro-necrophilia argument in the body of the proposal and it would pass in a landslide given the current atmosphere.

Wait for it to pass, please.
