Current resolution so close....

Zachnia

I was rather frustrated, actually, when I read the proposal. Now, however, because I am wildly against euthanesia (in fact, it is legal in zachnia) However, there was was clause that said that in the case that the person would not be able to make the decision, then the person closest to them should. I dunno, I just don't think that any other people should be making this decision for them. I believe that only the person himself should be able to choose whether he dies or not, unless they have undisputable proof.

"But what about that person's dignity?"

I really don't like that question, because that makes it seem that the entire point of life is to impress others, which is, I believe, completely wrong.

The only reason I make euthanesia legal is that I believe it is that person's choice, you can't force people to live, it's like compulsory voting. However, in order for those besides the person to make the choice, to be or not to be, they need proof.

I agree, and I think so does a lot of other people. It's not so much bad as badly worded. If this passes a lot of countries will have serious issues. It isn't so much whether one agrees with it or not, it's that this proposal will inconvenience everyone regardless of what they believe in.

This one needs to be defeated. Euthanasia shouldn't be legal first off, but even if you support euthanasia the wording of this proposal is very shaky at best.

Good idea.

Ironically I originally approved this proposal. Though after reading the arguments, yes, I would have to agree, the wording is very poor.

"those concerned" and "those closest to" are vague, broad, and ambiguous phrases.

And yes, I also do not like the idea of another person choosing life or death on another person.

I will vote against this resolution.

In the West Pacific, although many nation-states have gone pro-choice on this issue, I believe because there are, in some places, a need to address a lack of democracy in other areas, this issue one which is extremely contentious because it has to do with individual choice.

Let's face it, we all hate and fear the reality of suffering a painful death. Wouldn't we all love the choice of throwing in the towel when the game gets too tough to win?

However, we did not choose to get born, so why should any of us be allowed to choose when we should leave?

In the West Pacific forum, an ongoing poll shows that all nation-state members taking part in the poll are against this resolution 100%. No dissention, no kidding and no coersion!

Why? Because the potential for abuse is so great!

If you are the one suffering intensely, of course you want to feel as though you want to die! Does this mean you should?

Perhaps relatives waiting in the wings to inherit your estate would be the first to agree with your wish.

Alternately, a word which is close to "euthanasia" has an entirely different meaning:

"Euthenics" mean: (quote Webster dictionary) - "A science concerned with improving the human species by changing the environment".

In Sinopia, we are trying to achieve the higher goal here, which is to improve living, not to make it easy and efficient to choose death because we have all given up.

PLEASE VOTE THIS RESOLUTION DOWN BECAUSE IT WILL AFFECT BADLY ALL OF US IF IT PASSES!

I am speaking from the heart and soul of all the citizens in Sinopia!
