Redundant proposals

With the ever-increasing waves of proposals appearing which simply repeat resolutions already passed, or try to do the opposite (therefore, in effect repealing them), I would like to ask for an end to these proposals to re-legalise (or ban) gay marriages - this is the most common, but today I also saw one for the Red Cross.

Before submitting or campaigning on the forums for a new resolution, can everyone simply check the list of resolutions which the UN has already passed (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=UN_past_resolutions) to make sure that they are not either doing the same thing as a previous resolution or repealing one, which is a game mechanics violation.

Lord Evif gives the Myopian delegate a standing ovation.

The first Red Cross was also a better-worded resolution.

He stopping resolutions that are already passed seems like a good idea. However not particular in nation states where you get issues about things that have been passed long ago over and over again :P. And a UN where basically non of the effects of past resolutions effect you when entering the UN.

About reapealing. That is one MAJOR part of politics. Only proves you are a very genius crafty dictator to propose banning that ;).

The thing is those two things are a bit contradictionarry. So lets focus where it really comes down to. A proposal makes a single change in your description of your nation. Therefore, whatever you do that seems to logically make sense to allow that single change. The actual text that is added is however a bit of a touchy subject. The whole system doesn't make sense in the first place.

Uhm game rule violation my......

The mods have specifically insisted time and time again that repealing a resolution counts as a game mechanics proposal because at this time, they have no way to reverse the changes made to your nation's stats, so enforcing such a resolution would mean having to change the programming (older, more experienced nations correct me if I'm wrong).

Actually, resolutions have no effect on your nation's description, only on its stats and ratings (i.e. the civil rights, economy and political freedoms ratings) - no text is added to the description that you see.

Apart from what I have answered, I have no idea what you're talikg about in the last paragraph. sorry.
