It is asked that the regional delegates look at the resolution "Automobilia Convention," for the sole purpose of bettering our motorists. Dankon.

We can only expect companies to make cars so safe. Once they reach a certain point, it is counter-productive to do any more. The problem lies more in the driver than the automobile anyway, and a "safer" automobile would also be a more expensive one--something we don't want to see in light of the virtual necessity of owning a car in many cities in today's world.

Ummmm, since when would something like this fall under the purvey of the U.N.? Keep your nose out of my automobile industry, thank you. It's really none of the U.N.'s business how I build cars. It has no effect on the rest of the world. There are certain standards that must be met in various individual nations, before an automobile can be made available for sale in that nation, but in my own nation, what I say goes. The U.N. has no say in the matter, nor should it.

Recent safety improvements have been better at "battering" the motorists.
Air bags kill children and short people.
Less "improvement"=more safety.

I guess if I export cars into other countries, we should meet international standards.

I have a better idea--let's NOT dictate how companies make their products.

I have a better idea--let's NOT dictate how companies make their products. Great! Then the international trusts will agree to make them dangerous, but cheap for them. That is, what we really endorse. All freedom for the market and don't mind the people! *ironyoff*

You're always free to do without.

Automobile companies have no obligation to provide people with cheap, safe cars. It's their product to make or not as they see fit, and you're free to purchase it or not as you see fit.

The problem is, that in the times of globalization companies tend to make very equal products and to kill small competitors. That limits the choice drastically.

Again...you're always free to do without.

I have a simple philosophy on resolutions:
1. See which way Ithuania votes.
2. Vote the other way.

Ithuania, you do not see what I mean, do you? I am not against economy, but I think it needs international limitations and laws to be good for the state, the workers and the consumers.
