[Copied] Proposition to make NS more fun

11-10-2003, 09:39
A lot of people can not experience the same fun the original nations on NS had for one simple reason... they can't do anything drastic or outrageous, all because every single nation has about 87 billion-plus-pop nations backing them up.

I think we should set a limit, no more than 5 nations in an alliance. They would work similarly to regions, being able to kick people out or recruit new people... it would make it sooooo much more fun. No one wants to go up against the CFA, or the GA, or the CC, or any of these other 100-member alliances, it just ruins the fun... In real life there alliances between like 3 or 4 nations, and not 80 something. If we had a limit we could be able to things a LOT more fair.

I don't know if this should be in the UN forum or Technical Forum, but oh well.

Do you understand what I am proposing? Alter the word "region" to say "Alliance" or "Coallition" and then cap it at 4 or 5 nations... It would work really well. Of course, you could have relations and trades with other nations.

Does this sound like a good idea at all? input?

I hope you don't mean NS World regions, but the RP sort. Because I kind of like ruling a 60 nation region in the NS World side of the game. I spent months doing diplomacy, espionage, dirty tricks and fighting wars for it, and I would not want it to get capped.

Well, I don't know how you can prevent regions from forming alliances. I do realise that there are some massive regional alliances out there, close to equality with the Pacifics in terms of the number of nations they contain, but I have never seen them particularly united on anything in NS World, other than RP trade and stuff. I do not RP war, so maybe there are problems there particular to that side of the game.

Look, I'm not going to accept this. Ray, give up. It's an absurd idea.

None of them will. Menelmacar will suffer conniptions, Melkor will find an excuse to blast you to kingdom come.

It's ridiculous, as we've all pointed out many times.

I understand the problem of dealing with big alliances, but instead of changing the rules, you better form your own. Right now it's the only challenge left for me in NationStates. I'm forming an antagonistic alliance that becomes bigger than any Pacific by itself. Right now we have more than 15 regions, combined they make more than 300 nations and more than 75 UN members. It's not much, but it's a good start :)

Say, Corinthe, what alliance would this be?

To learn about it, you have to join our forum. Sorry, I see no reason to tell it to everyone in NationStates yet  My PR manager is in charge of things. I am just recruiting and stuff :) Not even my Delegate of The Central Pacific knows who they are, since he refuses to join the forum :P

We have no rules regarding alliances, and thus we have no desire to change them.

I hope this doesn’t come across as rude. Genuinely curious here. But, why?

Do you mean for Rping or for UN force, or what?
