Renewed Plea for more Delegate Telegram space!

Fantasan

I just had who knows how many important messages (3 of which I was saving) lost because I was flooded with more than 10 new messages last night. As a Delegate, I get so many telegrams, unless I'm here every hour of the day and night, I could lose something. I don't know if someone telegrammed with important news and was bumped off my messages or not.

Delegates get so many more telegrams than normal players. Something must be done to get us more telegram space.

I agree with this completly, the number we can recieve is pitiful given the amount of communications that this position takes..i've taken to giving out my email address to get round this but this is a poor way to solve the problem (it means opening up your email to reply and also some nations dont have email specifically set up for their nation)...

Did we ever get a yes, no or maybe from 'the powers that be' on the last thread that discussed this topic?

I am strongly in favour of this idea, but would go further and extend it to include Founders as well as Delegates!

Well of course founders should be upgraded!

Fantastan, if you don't like recieving TM's, then you should probably stop sending unsolicited TM's to every UN delegate asking for support of some proposal or another.

What happens when you lose the delegacy?

Then you lose the extra space.

My solution to this-

Really important ones you want to save: Copy and paste into a word document of some sort, or write in a notepad.

i dont think its possibe

maybe you should record important telegrams in a word document

I do save important telegrams into a word document.

The fact is that as Founder and Delegate for my region I have had instances where I have received more than 10 telegrams in a day. This is the point that Fantasan is making. We can save as many telegrams as we like, but if we have received more than 10 before we next log in, we will have missed some. It is not practicle to have to log in every few hours to check for new telegrams.

Yeah, I think this is a great idea.

And it seems to be that losing the extra e-mails is a small price to py, sort of like waking up and realizing that not only are you not the ruler, but there seem to be real life consequnces to your actions for some strange reason.

I also have the fear that people will strive for the delegacy just to have the larger inbox. However, that being said, I will reopen my own consideration of this idea.

P.S. I may as well note now, that [violet] reads this forum when the log on, so even if I don't accept/recommend an idea, it still reaches them. So don't feel that I have the power to guarantee the approval or reject of ideas, I only can advise (and I honestly don't know how much weight I have).

Hey, how hard would t be to add an potion that sends extra TGs to your e-mail address?

Wow, I like the direction of that idea, but I Can see some real issues with serial spammers.

Cool. Why not simply have those over 10 get deleted. It seems to me that the DEL gets a few perks in the region. Like any other perk, if this was taken away from him at the moment of update, would be much like in RL when someone has to leave office. They can't take their office with them...
10-09-2003, 12:57
But you are confusing me. The limit is 10. After that, they are deleted.

Well yes.

Sorry if I lost you. The part of this thread debate I am attempting tp add to is:

1. DEL should be able tp hold more then 10 telegrams

2. If the UN DEL got more then 10 TM, what would happen when he lost power?

I suggest that he simply lose all above 10.

You do tend to get a lot of telegrams when you have a resolution up for vote.

Founder, as well.

And if there is a Regional Council, like the one we have, then all on the council.

Founder, as well.

In other words: anyone who bothers to create a region with his/her nation would get extra telegram space... I can see more dummy regions being created that way. You can make this even worse by adding to the telegram space for EACH region a nation has created... ;)

If more telegram space for Founders would be seriously considered, I'd strongly suggest to simply increase the telegram space for everybody equally.

Fine. As my ideas are being butchered, I'll keep them to myself.

Why don't you put your E-mail adress in your factbook? Looks like a good idea for a delegate/founder

hmmm I hadnt thought of that, but its a good point. On the other habd theres founders like me who have only founded one region and plan to keep it that way,but I guess that cant be expected of everyone,I would suggest a 1(or maybe 3 I dont know) current region per nation rule, the problem being if a region is invaded, but then a founder could just kick all the invaders, and he/she could do this if they needed to start a new region for some important reason

It seems to me that giving more TM space to ALL nations would increase the need for space on the servers then just creating additional TM space for Founder and DEL.

If people create mules to hold co-responce, then fine. I don't this increase in Del and Founder would kill the server, would it?

Don't know who that is being directed to. As I see it, it is being discussed because it has merrit, not beinf butchered.

I could misunderstand tho, dunno.

Have the 'powers that be' reached any kind of majority opinion on this subject.
An update would be appeciated :)

As far as I know, I'm the only one paying attention to this at the moment. I am against extras for founders for the reasons stated above. Perhaps for delegates . . . but that leaves founders without something they might need. I'm still really not sure here. Oh, and if there would be a boost, it would be a one time thing, not per region.

I think it would be nice for founders to have it too (and don't see this would sqeulch the database resources that much) but really there is not much of an argument as to need-- unlike with the UN DEL, where he/she has to be kept abreast of political actiivty in the reigon.
