Foray into the Unknown (Open, to a point)

Aboard the FHSV Viper, a vessel famous for testing the first of many Translight Molecular Deconstruction Gates, Admiral Nu'Vox stood in his quarters. In ten minutes, he would lead an entire fleet into unknown space, in search of new systems for the Hammerian Protectorate.

"Sir," a lone crewman barked as he strode up to Admiral Nu'vox. "Sir, the fleet is ready for departure. Colony Ship reports all systems operational. All Omaha-class Battleships armed and ready. Liberty Fleet Bravo is ready for departure."

Nu'vox looked in the mirror, checking his appearance. "As am I. Order all crewmen to their stations, brings us out of Shakedown mode Theta. Ready all weapons and alert the fleet to take up Defensive Formation Bravo-Sierra upon departure."

"Aye, sir!" The crewman ran off to perform his duties, and Nu'Vox checked his reflection once more. Satisfied, he gracefully strode to the bridge, his gait demanding respect.

Nu'Vox had begun to notice spikes of grey appearing in his hair, mostly on his sideburns. It had been a few years since his last actual assignment, which was a battle against Egypstan, a dangerous Acigoo smuggling nation. He quietly sighed as he reflected on the past few years, which had been spent patrolling the Outter Colonies. Such a waste of talent, such a lack of action.

The massive bridge bulkheads slid open, and the large Admiral made his way to the Hot seat, the ever-so-famous commander's chair. It wasn't much of a chair, as most of the vessel commanders preferred to stand. He glanced over the shoulders of working crewmen, checking their data calculations and offering up advice along the way.

At the bridge screen, he qued the Fleet comm channel. "All vessels, we are ready for departure. Fleet Control EI has calculated an exit vector, which will be transmitted to your onboard AI shortly. Cock 'em, lock 'em, and hang on to your hats!"

Yes, it is, considering the fact that I just got on the forums, and have been playing Planetia for the last few hours.

"All Fleet Vessels, we are clear of Nordlund space."

"Attention Fleet Theta-Bravo-Sierra-One-Niner. You are go, repeat, go for departure. Generate system exit vector Sierra-Alpha-Echo. Confirm. Godspeed."

"Nordlund Departure, this is Fleet Theta-Bravo-Sierra-One-Niner. Vector confirmed, Sierra-Alpha-Echo."

The Fleet stopped upon reaching the system's edge. Motes and waves of green and blue light formed around the vessels, and they were instantaniously shot into Subspace.

The constant flow of vessels reformed, and all was quiet once more.

IC:

A whole contigent of Naponia's planet scouts (those who first scouted Aren when it was colonized*) roamed along the back part of the FHSV Viper. Several other contigents of workers, designed for the construction of Naponia's new technology, Asteroid-Bases**.

Worker M'ka'ätr looked out through one of the Viper's windows. Shortly behind the huge ship one of Naponia's SuperCruisers, the NWF Quantum, followed as an escort, carrying materials enough to build Asteroid Bases on more than four rocks...

(to be continued, right now it's school time, so BBL.)

IC Notes:
* North Pole, not South Pole(which was already occupied)
** Basically shipyards that use a stable, large asteroid as a skeleton. Developed by Naponia.

On board the bridge of the FHSV Viper, the command ship of the exploration fleet, all hell broke loose. Klaxons blared, alarms rang, and sensor stations were up to their ears in incoming data.

Nu'Vox quickly strode over to the nearest station, observing the data flooding the screen. "Admiral, we have a massive Asteroid field in our present route! Material makeup of asteroids unknown. It seems to be some kind of metalloid. We're talking huge asteroids, sir. Serious shit."

The Admiral quickly assessed the situation. "Scan asteroids further. Slow us to cruising speed and bring us near to the field. I want asteroid samples brought to the onboard labs and studied down to the molecule."

"Aye, sir. Uh, sir, there also appears to be a rather large Singularity in the direct center of the field. Analyzing as well."

Nu'vox assumed his respectable posture once more and approached the bridge screen. Tapping his bulky fingers against the screen, he rearranged the fleet formation to a more defensive position. The vessel silhouettes blinked in acknowledgment. "Weapons Station, charge all MACs, full charge. Bring weapons system to full, route power from all unnecessary systems. Push reactors to maximum.

"Nav, set course for the asteroid field. Ops, prepare four Heavy Freighters for sample collection upon exiting Subspace. Comms, alert the Colony Ship of the asteroid field and send all sensor data to the Colony Ship EI units."
A chorus of responses sounded off. "Aye, sir. Working."

The NWF Quantum was stunned by the sudden jump out of subspace, nearly ramming into the FHSV Viper's main thrusters.

As soon as all calmed down, in the NWF Quantum's bridge General Nek'tr was giving out commands.

He didn't have time to talk much, as they soon got the news that the freighters were leaving, the cruiser repowered engines and headed towards the singularity.

As the cruiser sped to the singularity, higher and higher energy readings bleeped on the main screen.

Nek'tr was talking to the FHSV Viper when suddenly video was cut. All lights aboard the Quantum went down and thrusters died.

From the FHSV Viper, the only thing that was seen was the cruiser disappearing in the distance and then an intense pink glow, followed by what everyone thought was some kind of transparent purple-crystal ship zooming across and disappearing in the asteroid field.

Every Naponian onboard the FHSV Viper was stunned, but the FHammerian freighters continued exploring.

Nu'vox snapped to attention at the sight of the odd form shooting across the field. "Sensor Station, report! What the hell was that?"

"Unknown, sir! Our sensors didn't catch very much before the object was out of sight. Object appears to be about the size of a Cruiser. Material make-up unknown, seems to be the same molecular structure as the asteroids. Weapons also unknown. Object seems to be an alien craft."

The Admiral checked the report on his data pad. "Very well. Continue scanning. Order fleet to Defensive formation Alpha-Theta. Bring us about to heading Zero-One-Three point Five-Nine. Bring Weapons Systems online, reactors to full."

"Aye, sir. Working."

Harl'kh was aboard the Viper when all happened, and wasn't too happy about it.

"Get me the general, please" - he moaned.

As the messenger went to the control room Harl'kh ran to the rear ship docks, and looked around for small exploration vessel that could take him through the asteroid field unnoticed.

As he peered out of a Flea class fighter, someone shadowy came thorugh the main airlock...

OOC: This may not make any sense since I'm typing this at school and this isn't exactly the best spot to get inspirational... :P

"Sir, we have multiple contacts incoming! They appear to be organic ships, easily the size of a Cruiser," The lone Radar operator reported. Blips appeared on the Bridge screen, appearing out of the singularity.
Admiral Nu'vox studied their rather familiar formation. He thought he recognized that from somewhere. He quickly dismissed the issue and focused on the situation at hand.
"Weapons to full! Charge MACs to 100%, ERU Active. Ready Turbolasers, fire at will. Move us into a defensive position around the Colony ship, target the largest enemy vessel and fire!"

"Mysterious Brightness Lights Up Dreary Night"

TYREME- On one of the coldest nights on the Roman record, one of the strangest occurances in Roman history occured in the night sky; and scientists do not know what to make of it.

A bright and colourful explosion flashed suddenly in the night sky at around 1:06 AM local time (OOC: EST) and disappeared almost as soon as it came. It looked like a small firecracker exploded in the night sky, only that it did not originate from the ground.

"Right now, we don't know what to think", said RomeW Professor Of Astronomy Quirinus Tyrenius. "It's an extraordinary sight, to be sure, but it's an odd one."

Tyrenius says he isn't sure what the source of the explosion was. "It's too quick to be a nova, that's for sure." He wouldn't elaborate further except to say that, with new funding from the Roman Treasury, Tyrenius says he will send a ship to "investigate".

"We can never be too sure...and, besides, just think of the exciting new possibilities. Who knows what phenomena created that beautiful explosion!"

The huge purple transparet-crystal Capital Ship zoomed in at full speed, but, on the FHSV Viper, it looked like it was barely moving, given the extremely low energy signature of the engines.

Soon the ship was within five kilometers of the Viper's front. Having already sustained multiple damage which seemed not to break the hull, a strange message was sent to the Viper over the videophone.

On the Viper's screen, the only video that appeared was a strange symbol, with crossed dragons and a crystal in the middle.

In the background, a strange voice talked:

"Hê'neg makhat! Ne'noë! Hur-hanê'non! Lee'eg! Mketro'kafö!"

The Hammerian multi-galaxic translator took its time, and finally outputted the translation:

"What do thee do in the Lands of The Nomads? We are not to be erased by our own renegades!"

The voice on the translator was bare, without feeling, making the sentence sound strange.

All of a sudden a jolt took the Viper by surprise, and a strike of intense light, enough to white out everything near, flashed.

After the initial daze cleared and only a few remains of fusing dark matter glowed in the relative darkness, the Naponians on the Viper realized they were in trouble.

Out of nowhere had came another purple crystal ship, about a quarter of the size of the other, larger ship. But this one had a strange crystal deep inside it, glowing green in periodical spaces.

The newly-appeared vessel transmitted another message, in the indecipherable language.

"Nwâak, etên'tok. Manhëtak Foe Hammer'ne, ekê't on-né Nordlund'ne."

The translator, again, took its time, as ships neared the new threat....

The translator, again, took its time, as ships neared the new threat....

"FIRE," Nu'Vox screamed at the top of his lungs.

Upon his command, 12 1,000mm MAC Cannons homed in on the alien vessel. The massive cannons fired, most of the recoil absorbed by the rail-and-buffer system on every cannon. The Viper shuddered slightly as the aliens' weapons fire splattered around the Viper's shields.

"Sir, shields to 92%!"

"Fire Bow, Port and Starboard Turbolaser batteries!"

Hundreds Blue streaks zipped through space at nearly the speed of light, instantly impacting the two alien vessels.
06-02-2004, 22:23
The smaller vessel shaked as the Turbolaser beams hit it. The crystal began to glow weaker and weaker, and the ship seemed to be getting darker.

Meanwhile, the bigger ship, standing in the way of the Viper, continued firing, but taking heavy shots.

Stray messages were sent over the intercom, too jumbled to be translated.

As the Viper recorded all video, a sudden glance of the bridge of the alien craft showed a pure creature, that inspired peace and calm, ordering the rest of the crew to attack, not liking it, almost crying.

With a jolt, the smaller ship exploded in another immense white-out, leaving nothing but a blue haze circling a large green crystal the size of a small freighter.

All of a sudden another vessel appeared below the Viper in a flash of blinding light. Everyone was dazzled to see... the NWF Quantum.

The videocom still showed the bridge of the alien ship, with the lone figure almost weeping, and others running around.

Nu'vox peered at the Viewscreen, showing the alien figure weeping on the bridge. "WAIT!"

The crewmen's heads turned, staring at the Admiral. "Cease Fire!"

The camera zoomed, showing the weeping alien deeply depressed, almost in tears.

"Nav, cut engines! Comms, get me a link with the enemy Captain! NOW!"

A tense aura overtook the bridge, as everyone realized that they had made a huge mistake.
07-02-2004, 01:43
The creature on-screen suddenly stopped crying when what seemed to be an Admiral came up to her and whispered something.

The alien looked at the commlink camera.

She began talking, but this time in a much more crystalline, calm voice. Over the translator, this could be heard:

"We mean you no harm. We are the Nomadic Peoples of Sh'Korrah. My name is Tyn'el. We do not understand why you attacked us."

Nu'vox wiped sweat from his forehead.

"We come peacefully. We are carrying millions of civilians on an exploratory mission, therefore we are very defensive."

Crewmen could be seen running around the bridge. The Admiral gently brushed his surcoat.

"We apologize for our hasty action."

Tyn'el seemed to nod in comprehension. The nomad battleship's engine could be seen going offline.

"I now understand. You may not know, but our empire is vast. Just enter the singularity you have on your radars, and you will see an entire colonized solar system."

Tyn'el touched some pads on the control panel.

Okay, since this server is F*CKED UP...

MY POST JUST GOT ERASED!

Here's the summary:
We move into the Singularity.
We find out that there are 7 planets, all inhabitable.
The sun is an O-class Blue star, 2.5 million years old.
There are about 100 million people living in the system.
Basically, it was just a post explaining the system.

Nu'vox stepped off of a VIP shuttle, onto the landing pad. The blue sun reflected off of the shuttle's steel hull, bringing a warm 86ºF upon the massive city.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The translator worked as hard as it could to translate the words being spoken between the Admirals.
"You are Admiral Nu'vox, correct?" the alien Admiral asked inquisitively.

"Yes. I will act as the representitive of Foe Hammer," Nu'Vox carefully stated. If words were spoken too fast, the translator would sometimes screw up the words, possibly with a very bad outcome, as demonstrated on Xenos VII. A rushing Admiral, who had remained unnamed during the Newscasts, spoke quickly, his translation stating, "We come in large toilets. We do not mean to kick dogs. Our animals have bad vaginitis." That incident was not one to be repeated.

"You, Foe Hammer, are the source."

Nu'Vox thought for a second. "The source? Please, define that term."

"Source, Creator. We are your spawn. You are I Am."

This is getting very confusing, Nu'Vox thought to himself. "We have not created anything such as yourselves. You are not in any database. You are unknown to us, even to the highest of authority, you are unknown."

"Over a hundred cycles ago, when the Colony Ship of Foe Hammer set off on a mission to an unknown system. Our ancestors were crew members aboard a Chaos Vessel. We were seperated from the others, and entered a singularity, which brought us here."

"You are the crew of the Kennedy? That vessel was destroyed!"

"Or so you thought. We have grown from the 200,000 crewmembers, and we have evolved differently. We have grown to 100 million people, with a fleet of powerful Space vessels, such as the Capitol Ship I command. We have waited for many cycles, and now it shall happen. We shall be reunited."
