Nasir, the Town of Thieves. (Open RP)

02-11-2003, 02:24
Nasir
Nasir is a region that’s made up entierly by a gigantic city by the name of Nasir, also known as "The Town of Thieves". Here crime has been leagalized and systemized by one man known as Nox. But some say that he’s not even a man, but a half-demon. He is darkness pesonified and is feared by all, he has ruled the city for as long as anyone can remember. He controls Nasir through his own loyal assassins wich is the best of the best and known as the Elite.
All rules are set up by Nox. All rulebreakers are hunted down and executed by the Elite.
The city is made up by low houses and dark winding alleys. The richer people own high towers almost impossible to break in to.
During the day life is peaceful and the civilans carry on with their lives, but when the night falls the assassins and thieves roam the streets and rooftops and Nox with his Elite keeps an eye at them so that his rules are followed. Very few newcomers survive long in the town of thives.
There is also another even darker side of Nasir; The Underworks. This is a web of tunnels and catacombs under the whole city and is also used as Nasirs graveyard. This is where everyone is going to end up sooner or later in the town of thieves.
Taverns:
The Trio Tavern, is one of the better taverns in the city where mostly assassin hang out. It also lies in convinient range from the assassins guild. It is recognized through a sign hanging outside with the sillhouettes of three assassins ready for combat.

Active factions:

Nefastudveho
This part of town is named after a temple dedicated to Lucifer, and this is where his followers live. Located in the southwest part of town. Lucifers own people police here, the demons, and Nox power is not as strong as in the rest of the city. The temple is the largerst source of Lucifers power and this is where he and his servants are strongest. The gates of the temple only opens to the dark gods followers or demons. Anyone else that tries to enter are consumed by Lucifers fire.
The more follower the god has the more powerfull he becomes.
In this part of town torches and fires are kept burning during the night so the guilds of Nasir have problems working here.
Goals:
To convert as many as possible to Lucifer at any cost.
To take control of the whole city and remove Nox.
To take control of everything else.
Characters:
The leader of Nefastudveho is called the Nefastus and is currently Cain. He is also the prophet of Lucifer and part of the gods power is his to command. He’s an old man kept strong and alive by the powers of his god. He owns an armor made by the black almost indestructible metal of Lucifer and a sword of the same material. He has learned to survive the hard way. He lives in Nefastudveho itself and comands his followers from there.
Fohgch is the name of a raven that follows Cain around and seems to have human intelligence but a very sarcastic personality. He's really not a raven but a shapechanging spirit but almost always uses the raven form. He's also always black, no matter what form he takes.
Modroch is one of the demon elders, and one of the strongest demon magicans. He’s incredebly old and was one of the first demons created by Lucifer. Therefore he’s very wise and has developed strange powers above the simple fire magic that most demons possess.
Nogrech is another demon elder used as messenger and diplomat. Constantly nervous and slightly paranoid but intelligent enough to serve Cains purpouses.
Basheniloch is one of the strongest and biggest demons and therfore has a high position in the demon society. He’s the leader of one of the two largest clans of demons, Inozorg. This clan keeps the order in Nefastudveho and acts as police.
Stygimoloch is head of the other large clan, Unozorg. This clan is made up by the most powerful demons and acts as Nefastudvehos military.
The Demons
These are a strong people created by Lucifer to serve his purposes. The original twenty was created after himself and those that is still alive is much like their god. The others are much wilder and less civilized and often fight among themselves. In their soceity anyone who can beat anyone else in a honest fight can take his place. Therefore the strongest demons rule their clans. Many demons still live far north in the black mountains but the two largest clans have moved into Nasir and made their home in the underworks under Nefastudveho.
Buildings:
Nefastudveho itself is a tall building made out of black stone rumored to come from the Black Mountans far north. It emits an aura of evil that brings fear into the heart of anyone that looks upon it and there are no houses or other buildings near it. It has many sharp spires and four smaller towers and one larg in the middle of the structure with a balcony in all four cardinal points. The temple has one large room with an altar stanied with ancient blood an a statue of the dark god in all his glory. Cain lives in the top of the centre tower and keeps a constant watch over the city.

Inactive factions:

The Thieves Guild
Here thieves are trained by the masters and you have to be a registered member to leagally steal. Thives are not allowed to kill under any circumstances. How much you can steal depends on wich rank you have in the guild, and a part of the profit made must be payed to the leader of the guild, wich in turn must pay enormous sums of money to Nox. The thives are spread all over the city but the guild itself lies in the centre of town with the other guild surrunding the great square.
Goals:
Recruiting and training as many and as skilled thives as possible to strengthen the guild.
Characters:
Stargen, the leader of the guild and the best thief in Nasir.

The Assassins Guild
This is much the same thing exept they kill instead of stealing. An assassin must be registered and have an employer to leagally kill. Part of the money gained from the employer must be payed tio the leader of the guild, and he must pay to Nox.
Goals:
Recruiting and training as many and as skilled assassins as possible to strengthen the guild.
Characters:
Talon, the leader of the guild, accepts no mistakes.
Shiva, a very talented assassin that knows Nox personally. Could probably become part of the Elite someday. Has a personal vendetta with Selene.
Don, close friend of Shiva since their very first years in the guild. But that was a long time ago and the gap between them grows wider. Not even nearly as skilled as Shiva.
Selene, teacher of Movement in the guild. She's long been trying to get a place in the Elite but blames Shiva for her most recent faliure in a test and hates his guts. Close friend with Maiche, but sometimes close enemy.
Emaen, teacher of Climbing in the guild. Long and thin, very light. Has a bright personality and is able to laugh at himself. Doesn't take much serius.
Derak, teacher of Throwing Weapons in the guild. A very silent man and a perfectionist. Speaks mostly with glances and gestures. If he says something it is very thought over and deep. Neutral and cold, shows no feelings.
Sincen, teacher of Projectile Weapons in the guild. An old man with the eyes of a hawk. Allows no rulebreaking and demands respect. Totaly merciless.
Thorg, teacher of Close Combat in the guild. A large man with scars from many battles but much faster than he looks.
Maiche, teacher of Posions in the guild and is quite a poisonus woman. Has a fiery temper and is known for her sharp tounge and snide remarks.
Aran, teacher of Stealth in the guild. Small and extremly fast, very paranoid and easily frightened. Never shovs his face and only Talon knows who he is.

The Elite
None knows who they are, only that you can expect a visit if Nox commands it. They have a spy network cowering the whole city, so no-one can be trusted. They also use black knives made by demonmetal that was used for sacrifice for hundreds of years ago in Lucifers temple. They where stolen by Nox and are the most formidable weapons an assassin can ever dream of. They are constantly sharp and cuts though most materials with ease.
Goals:
Organize crime and uphold the order, at any cost.
Characters:
Nox, half-demon with combined strengths from both species. Nox is not his real name but he doesn't use the name his father gave him. Hates his father for conceiveing him and for what it cost his mother. Has a really long lifespan because of his demonblood and some magical talents because of the same reason. Has not seen the sun for hundreds of years, does only come out at night. He’s true element is the darkness and his soul have adapted to his life spent in the darkness. He can see in the dark as daylight and is able to manipulate the darkness to walk unseen in the night.
H'rulghin is a master assassin taking a test right now to be accepted into the Elite.

Tech level:
Fantasy, with swords and stuff, or mostly knives and daggers in this case.

Cain, Lucifers Prophet and the leader of Nefastudveho stares over the rooftops as the sun rises and paints the sky red. He's dressed in comfortable red and black clothes with one word written over the chest: Nefastus.
He's standing on a balcony of one of the towers of Nefastudvheo itself, the great temple of Lucifer and the center of the gods power. Bellow him the great city is starting to fall asleep as the light fills the streets. The night-time activity ends and the assassins and thieves returns to where ever they came from and the civilians awaken.
Cains black hair flows in the wind and his old, hard face seems to be cut out of stone. He just stands there, thinking, about the past, the present, and the future.

The assassins uniform lies abandomed on a shelf in Shivas hideout and he walks the streets as any normal man. But he is never unarmed and has many knives hidden in his clothes. The steets are yet quite empty but will be filled as the day goes on, but still he's steel-grey eyes scans every alley for threats or movement of any knid.
The morning is still young and it is time to celebrate, his last job had been a major succsess and he had much money to spend. He knew this town well and took every turn with confidence. He was heading for the Trio tavern, his favorite place where many assassins hanged out during the days. Don was waiting for him there, hmpf, he was surly going to pay for the drinks as...
Suddenly he heard a noise from an alley to his left and he wirhled around and pulled a knife in the same movement. A cat froze in a step and looked up at him with large brown eyes. He laughed silently at himself.
"Hello there sir cat", he said with a smile, returning the knife to its normal place. "How can I help you this lovely morning?" He got no response.

Suddely Foghch, that damned raven, soars down from the sky and and sat down on Cains shoulder. Right now Cain did not have the patience with the bird.
"Cant you just go away and do whatever ravens do?" Cain asked irritaded.
"Well, you know, technicaly, I'm not a raven", Foghch said.
That was true. Technicaly, Foghch was a shapechanging spirit bound to Cain by Lucifer for what felt like ages ago. Foghch was Cains eyes and ears, at least when he could get the bird to do anything at all.
"Then whats with the raven form that you always stick to? Why not something more powerful, like a demon or something, then you might acually be of some use." Cain mumbled absent-minded.
"Oh! Yes! Why didnt I think of that! Here comes the big black demon! The others wouldnt be suspicious at all! No, no, no, those blasted redskins..." That was also true, no matter what form he took he always remained completly black. The bird made one of his extremly rare pauses before continuing. "Then why the raven form, hmm, yes. You know theres a lot of chicks in a town like this with fresh corpses everywhere, and you know it completes the picture. Here comes the mighty Cain bow for his demonic powers, and so forth, then its the only right thing to have on your shoulder is a black raven right? And thats me. You know? I give you mucho respect, and the laidies! They love ravens, I tell you! How many..."
"Cant you just shut your beak? I'm trying to think here", Cain said and shaked the bird off his shoulder and the raven fluttered down to the floor.
"Yes of course oh mighty master Nefastus! Have I ever disobeyed your orders? Allow me to kiss the ground that you walk on, oh I forgot, I got no lips..." Cain atempted to cause the bird physical harm through a kick but the bird leaped out of the way and took off into the air. "Aight, aight, I get the idea. Some people..." And the raven flew off and finally left Cain to his thoughts.

As Shiva took the last turn he saw the large building in front of him with the sign hanging slightly awry. The sign had the sillhouettes of three assassins ready for combat painted in black on it, the Trio Tavern. This was many assassins favorite place to hang out in the morning when the nights work was over.
As he entered into the warmth of the tavern he imidietly heard Dons voice over the crowd. "Hey! Shiva, over here!" Shiva started making his way across the room. The tavern was filled with people, mostly assassins and many familiar faces.
He passed a table where Selene sat with Maiche. "Shiva", Maiche said. "I'm suprised to see you here. Where did you get money from? Stealing?" Both of them started laughing but Shiva ignored them and continued to Dons table.
"I see you", Shiva said and sat down, the standard greeting of assassins. Don called in some beer and they spent some time with smalltalk.
"You know I'm into something big", Don suddenly said. "I could really need your help. There's loads of money involved."
Shiva sat quietly for some seconds. So that was what this was about?
"You know that I work alone", Shiva said. "We're not even the same rank, forget it."
"But I cant do this without you", Don said. Shiva thought for a moment.
"You provide me with the information I need, I do the job, you collect the money. We split, I get ninety precent", Shiva said.
"Ninety precent, you bastard!" Don said and the barganing started.

H'rulghin sneaked around in the alleys of Nefastudveho.
Was this even possible? he thought again. Taking down a demon in broad daylight is not really what he considered an easy task. He was a master assassin and all that, but this seemed impossible.
But this was what he had to do to get accepted into the Elite, it was the mission that Nox had given to him. He didn't even get to use one of the black knives and had to use his own steel wich didn't have much affect on thick demonhide. He had to strike fast, and hard. He had to do this, or he would never get accepted, Nox is not someone that accepts faliure.
Demons usually traveled in packs of three or four as they patroled the streets during the day, he had even gone over the possibility to enter the demons part of the underworks, but once he got in he would never get out alive, and surviving this was top one priority.
There was no need for uniform now during the day, and he really did not want to be recognised as an assassin. Desperatly he roamed the streets looking for some lonely demon somewhere, but all he met was the ordinary patrols. He had to have this done untill tonight, that was all the time he had, and he was already stressed.
This will never work, he thought.
